The progress of chronic renal failure (CRF) is characterized by the development ofglomerular and tubular lesions that involve multiple factors. The damage of kidney essencecauses failure of the kidney to maintain its basic function including excretion of metabolicwastes, balance of water, salt and acid-alkali, adjustment of hormone metabolism and so on.This in turn will lead to a series of clinical manifestation such as azotaemia and anemia, andeventually uremia will be developed at the end stage of chronic renal failure. Thedescription of syndromes and pathomechanisms of chronic renal failure were founddispersedly in the literature of traditional Chinese medicine as "retention of urine", "obstruction and rejection", " weak and frail", "uremia", "the kidney wind", "nausea andvomiting", and "the kidney wind weakness", with various clinical symptoms includingfatigue and tiredness, nausea and vomiting, anemia, dizziness, dysuria, edema, skin itching, withered yellow color of face, convulsion and tremble, to name but a few. Owing to thecomplexity of the nature of chronic renal failure, the treatments are relatively complicated. This study will investigate the chronic renal failure by two ways, the fundamentalstudy and the clinical trial. In the fundamental research, previously published papersrelated to chronic renal failure will be scrutinized and analyzed systematically. The clinicaltrial will test and verify the curative effects of Chinese medicine prescription on CRF, andits application safety on human body will be observed. Patients with CRF who are bothstagnation of damp turbidity and static blood, and spleen and kidney vacuity type will berecruited. The patients will take Chinese medicine prescription orally. The effects will becompared statistically after 60 days of intervention. |
