| ObjectiveObesity is one of the chronic metabolic disorder diseases, many factors such as environment, genes, inflammations and life styles can make contributions to it. As the development of economics is becoming faster and faster, obesity is growing nowadays in many developed countries or districts. What’s more, it is one of the dangerous factors of many diseases such as diabetes, HUA, cancer, cardiovascular diseases or hypertension. so, nowadays, many countries have realized the importance and take measures of it. this study is to explore the efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding combined with herbs on obesity. for the purpose to provide some measures for TCM.MethodsA total of 60 cases were collected from a clinic of TCM in Taiwan dis tricts. After conforming of the selection criteria of obesity, cases were divided into 2 groups by the methods of random numbers. One is treating group and the other is control group. And each of the group consisted of 25 females and 5 males. In the treating group, patients were treated wit h acupoint catgut embedding combining with Chinese herbs, and in the con trol group, patients were treated with Chinese herbs only. The cupoints u sed were as follows:daihuan, huantiao, zusanli,zhongwan, sanyinjiao, jia nliao,weishu, tianshu, shuifen,fenglong, diji,pishu, qihai, daheng, yin linquan. Each times 7-10 points were selected and being embedding on one side of the body, and exchange each time. After the treatment, BMI, WC, H C and other glucose or lipid metabolic indexes are calculated and compare d.ResultsThe effective rate of the treatment group is about 80%, while the control group is about 97%. The curative effect of two groups has significant difference. Before the therapy, the body weight and BMI of two groups also has no significant differences too, P<0.05. After therapy, the treatment group and control group in waist circumference, hip circumference difference compared with before treatment, P< 0.05, embedded wire can be thought of combined traditional Chinese medicine treatment or single Chinese medicine treatment in patients with normal metabolism of fat of waist circumference, hip circumference were improved. Treatment group (TG, TC and HDL-C was compared with the control group had obvious changes, statistically significant difference. And LDL-C level, the treatment group and control group was significant change, the statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), leptin levels in treatment group and control group had significant difference before treatment, there was no significant statistical difference (P< 0.05), the two groups after treatment had no significant difference (P> 0.05). Treatment group and control group in the leptin level statistically similar between the two groups before treatment (P< 0.05), after treatment, the treatment group treats in the former leptin levels are no statistical difference (P> 0.05), the control group leptin levels before the treatment have a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05).ConelusionsThe effect of reducing weight is much better in treating group than control group, the concrete manifestation lies in:1, it can significantly reduce the waist circumference, hip circumference, and lower the BMI.2, it can effectively improve the endocrine metabolic state, and can also reduce triglyceride, cholesterol,increasing high density lipoprotein cholesterol. The underlying mechanism may be related to long term stimulation on the points, and strengthening the body’s metabolic state to regulate center of appetite and so on. |
