It is considered that the rheumatoid arthritis belongs to “Arthralgia Sy-ndrome” in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). Professor Ma Yu-chen hasaccumulated rich experience in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of RA.The Wind, cold, damp and the deficiency of Qi which regarded as thebasic etiological factors of RA, that he thinks is not enough to explain theappearance of “joint swelling, joints deforming, articular tubercle, joint afu-nction” which included in “five body Bi”and “Zang-fu Bi”. He raises theview that the pathogenetic characteristics of “Arthralgia Syndrome” can besummarized as“Tan and Du”. which he suggests that“Arthralgia Syndrome”should be treated focused on. Accordingly, he sets out a series of therapiessuch as“Fa Han Qu Du,Qing Re Jie Du,Hua Tan San Du,Yi Du GongDu”;“QingRe HuaTan,Wen Hua Han Tan, Zai Hua Tan Shi, Hua Tan SanJie” and so on. Professor Ma raised a three diamensions diagnosis and tre-atment system of RA based on sydrome differentiation. RA can be differe-ntiated into several three diamensions syndromes, according to which RA istreated and studied. Anemia in Rheumatoid Arthritis is considered as oneof the three diamensions differentiation system and believed to be positivelycorrelated with Qi and blood deficiency syndrome. It comes up with Qi deficiency and wind-cold-damp block, and then results in Tan and Du. Wetreat it with Qi Gui Er Huo(QGEH) decoction and have good clinical effe-cts.According to the view of treatment of “Arthralgia Syndrome”by ProfessorMa, in the research, the effects of QGEH combing Qu Feng San Han Chu Shi orHuo Xie Hua Tan Jie Du herbs and Western medicine were observed andcompared. Both clinical and animal researchs were included. The clinical research indicated that Chinese medicine has good effects onAnemia in Rheumatoid Arthritis stablely, and can make better effects in integratedtraditional and western medicine group. After12weeks, the level of RBC, Hb in Chinese medicine group were obviously higher than that in model group(P<0.01,P<0.05). The level of Epo was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The level of SIin both groups were increased(P>0.05).The level of IL-6, IL-1, TNF-α, andIFN-γ in serum in Chinese medicine group were significantly lower than that inmodel group(P<0.05, P<0.05,P<0.05,P<0.01). The animal research indicated that,after3weeks, compared with normol group, the level of SI was decreased inChinese medicine group(P<0.05). The level of SF were increased both in normoland treatment group(P>0.05).The level of RBC, Hb and MCHC in Chinesemedicine group were obviously higher than that in model group(P<0.05). Thelevel of IL-6、IL-1、TNF-α and IFN-γ in Chinese medicine group were obviouslyhigher than that in model group(P<0.05, P<0.05, P<0.05, P<0.05). It was foundthat the curative effect of the decoction (QGEH) was more permanent and stableon Anemia in Rheumatoid Arthritis from different pathways,in which the levelsof IL-6,etal are mainly aspects. It showed satisfactory synergy and attenuation.Itwas also indicated that the significant clinical effects of the view of diagnosis andtreatment of Anemia in “Arthralgia Syndrome” by Professor Ma.
