Postnatal diseases also known as puerperal diseases are diseases that associate with women during labor or within six weeks of childbirth. Puerperal diseases are usually caused by the lack of care during this period with a deficiency of Qi and blood and overall vital Qi. The more common puerperal diseases are postpartum dizziness, postpartum lochia (vaginal discharge), postpartum fever, postpartum abdominal pain, postpartum cramps, postpartum constipation, postpartum urinary incontinence, postpartum sweating, postpartum depression, postpartum body aches, postpartum lactation problems etc. There is a rich content of information on puerperal diseases in ancient medical books; and acupuncture plays a unique role in gynecology treatments, through time, precious experiences continue to accumulate. Based on today’s acupuncture treatment theories, with regard to women’s physiological characteristics of "menstruation, pregnancy, labor, lactation" and the pathological characteristics of the Chinese Medicine gynecology cycle of "jing, dai, tai, chan", the theory and methods behind the choices of acupressure points from the past medical specialists appeared to be different than the Chinese internal medicine treatments theories.Acupuncture and moxibustion prescription plays one of the integral parts in the system of science of acupuncture and moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Based on the basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine on the concept of holism and syndrome differentiation and treatment, combining the functions and characteristics of the meridian and acupuncture to execute the usage of paring different acupoints for treatment formulas;that includes singular acupoint prescription and multiple pairing of acupoints prescriptions. Whether the pairing of acupoints is effective or not, it directly or indirectly affects the clinical efficacy.With the continuous development of the study of acupuncture and moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine, more standardized and regularized requirements would be applied to the acupuncture prescriptions. This thesis would summarize with common, authorized sets of acupuncture prescriptions, based on the in-depth analysis and research on related ancient studies; aiming to look into the common ancient acupuncture and moxibustion treatment prescription on Puerperal diseases, and the rules of pairing the different acupressure points. Thus, hoping to find more ancient studies references on clinical acupuncture and moxibustion treatments on Puerperal diseases. There has been an abundant source of information on acupuncture and moxibustion studies since the ancient times.To efficiently source out and organize useful and informative related studies that would be beneficial to the research for today’s study is the greatest difficulty acupuncture and moxibustion literature researcher faced with nowadays. This study analyzed the ancient literatures on the acupuncture treatment of the Puerperal Diseases and to summarize the selected acupoints as a reference for the clinical application nowadays.ObjectiveIn this study, there is a review and analysis among the ancient liter ature field of the acupuncture treatment of Puerperal Diseases, in order to sort out its own acupuncture treatment pattern. The ancient literature s of the acupuncture treatment of Puerperal Diseases were collected for t he analysis of the characteristics and the pattern of the selected acupoi nts on the acupuncture treatment of Puerperal Diseases. The clinical appl ication of the common selected acupoints, Meridian and the specific point were therefore analyzed and the analysis aimed at discovering a new ther apeutic treatment way on the Puerperal Diseases and as a reference for th e clinical acupuncture treatment of Puerperal diseases.MethodsBy making use of "The Encyclipaedia of Traditional Chinese Mesicine" and "The electronic Version of Siku Quanshu", with the help of the databa se on the internet, university library and the classic medical books in t he past few decades, like the "Golden Chamber "written by ZHANGZhongJin g in the eastern han dynasty. And the literature reviews of the acupunct ure treatment of Puerperal Disease in the Qing Dynasty. There were45bo oks in total which categorized medical formulary, medical case study; med ical theory, herbal medicine and integrated medicine. The acupoints presc ription for the Puerperal Diseases are sorted out from the classic medica1books and recorded in a database. The data were statistically analyzed by using frequency analysis and association analysis so as to find out th e pattern of the clinical application of the acupoints prescription and t he common acupoints selected for the Puerperal Diseases in the classic me dical books.ResultsAncient prescription statistics1. Search45parts of the acupuncture of ancient literature included i n "Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine" and "The electronic V ersion of Siku Quanshu".There are495clauses about treating Puerperal D lsease.2. There are90acupoints used altogether.the prescription can be div ided into single-point in352clauses couple-point prescription in71cla uses and multiple-point in72clauses.3. In45ancient books the therapy of Puerperal Disease about acupunc ture and moxibution appers as early as Jin Dynasty. There are9clauses a bout it. MingDynasty was the peak of it, it had258clauses of it.4.In the ancient books the therapy of the puerperal Disesae about acu puncture and moxibution appers had20type disease, there are acute masti tis, lochiostasis, udderiess, postpartum ameic fainting, postpartum gen eral aching, postpartum wind diseases, postpartum convuision, all postp artum diseases, postpartum apogee sweating, puerperal abdominal flatulenc e, postpartum blood deficiency, postpartum pulse mountain range, puerpe ral hysteroptosis, postpartum hiccup, postpartum urine doesn’t make any sense.5. There are different channels in acupuncture and moxibustion formul a with puerperal disease. Twelve regular channels, Ren channel, Du channe1and extra nerve points are distributed to distribute. The most appearin g is Ren channel. It had15acupuncture points.6. There are90acupuncture point in the therapy of the puerperal Dis esae about acupuncture and moxibution. The four limbs of the body had50a cupuncture points. The chest and abdomen had27acupuncture points. The m iddle back had8acupuncture points. The hed and neck had5acupuncture p oints.7. There are90acupuncture points in the therapy of the puerperal Di sesae about acupuncture and moxibution.59acupuncture points were in spe cific acupoint. About66%in whole acupuncture points.26acupuncture poin ts were in Five Streaming Points.8acupuncture points were in Front-Mu p oints.6acupuncture points were in source points.3acupuncture points w ere in Back-shu points.4acupuncture points were in connecting points.7acupuncture points were in eight convergent points.1acupuncture points were in lower confluent point.4acupuncture points were in cleft points.ConclusionThe clinical application of Ren channel dominated the ancient uses of the clinical therapeutic acupoints in treating Puerperal Disease. Accor ding to the principle of "passages through which vital energy circulates, cure mainly and indications", the selected acupoints in our human body m ainly located in the chest and the abdomen and they are associated to the liver、spleen and kidney channels. The functions of stimulating the bloo d circulation, removing blood stasis, to patch QI and nourishing the blo od, warming channel and expellinf cold, alleviating depression to regula te and detumescence Qi. There are found under the analysis among the selec ted acupoints and played the prompted role as a result. This finding prov ed that the etiology and the pathogenesis of Puerperal Disease isstangati on of blood and deficiency syndrome mingling with excess syndrome.Under the guidance of tutor, the traditional Chinese medicine theory are combined with the literature study and statistical analysis, systemat ic collation has made for the theraputic principle and the clinicial appl ication in treating Puerperal Disease by the treatment of acupuncture. Th e pattern of the therapeutic selection among the acupoints has analyzed a nd the common acupoints prescriptions for the treatment of Puerperal Dise ase are therefore summarized.
