| China is experiencing, which unprecedented in history, the transformation period from traditional to contemporary. Historical streets’ protection and developments not only became a hot topic, but also facing all kinds of difficulties and problems which need urgent attention. Yunnan is located southwest border of China. The overall level of development of economy and society is not very high. The conditions and problems of its historical streets’ developments and protections, are good examples to represent those non-advanced area of the western provinces.This paper uses Yunnan as the breakthrough point, focused at the current historical streets’ protection and development’s problems, based on the principles of "Historical evidences", "Theory of epigenesis" and "Multi dimensional perspective", built accordingly Empirical Evaluation research system which is appropriate to do the verification and analyzation for the local historical streets of Yunnan. The selected examples located at "Three cities Four places", are typical historical streets, which are analyzed by using research methods such as "Qualitative and quantitative", "Visit investigation ", "Return visit research", "Real data analyzes" by multidisciplinary and Multi-dimensional perspective. The research which is based upon over ten year’s data of physical and unphysical remaining condition, the local regulations and related strategies, after deeply, carefully research and analyzation, digging the real roots for those problems, comparing with multi-angles research methods, made the final assumption, regarding the difficulties in the historical streets’ protection and developments, why they are happening, to conclusively three underlying root causes. And recommend the methods of "multiple net-type protection and regulatory mechanisms", and the related strategies. This strategy could become the guide line for all Yunnan province, and other similar places, to protect and develop the historical streets and related urban areas, eventually build the Win-Win developing system for the long term. |
