In recent years, with the rapid development of urban construction, the increasing construction project scale and more complex form in our country, the requirement for construction engineering design is becoming higher and higher. However, due to the non-integrated disciplines, the effective and accurate coordination and interaction is scarce during the design process, leading to continuous repeat work, inefficiency production, more construction rework, construction cost rise and severe resources waste in conventional 2D model design. It is BIM(Building Information Modeling) that can solve that problem. BIM is another revolution in the field of construction after the two-dimensional CAD technology and the process of engineering project design, construction and operation management by creating and using the digital model.Facing the construction engineering design stage, with the aid of BIM technology, virtual reality technology and data management technology, combined with related engineering specifications, this paper makes analyses and explorations deeply into the BIM in the field of construction engineering design optimization in china, puts forward the design optimization process based on BIM platform, designs data storage and access mechanism based on relational database and XML, establish data exchange and interface mechanism based on IFC standards, applies C/S technology in the platform architecture design and designs the optimal function modules in detail on the platform architecture, including function modules such as:three-dimensional structures automatic layout, quick statistics of construction materials,comprehensive pipeline intelligent collision detection, comprehensive pipeline automaticcollision avoidance and pipeline clear height detection and so on.It also designs the key algorithm of each optimization module in order to improve the design efficiency, reduce construction rework, save construction costs and maintenance but also riche the BIM information theory creation and application research facing construction project optimization design and provide theoretical basis for the establishment of BIM standards in China. The main contents and innovations are as follows:(1) Putting forward construction engineering design optimization process and optimization platform architecture based on BIMBy analyzing the working process of the construction engineering design based on BIM,the paper puts forward the process of creation and optimization of BIM information and model and establishes an overall method of design optimization by applying function module.According to the contrastive analysis between the C/S and B/S architectures, a system architecture based on C/S is designed in this paper. This architecture consists of two layers,one is composite layer made up by the presentation layer(UI) and the business logic layer(BLL),the other is database access layer(DAL). On this basis, it makes the optimized function module division, providing basic platform for the realization of the function of the late part.(2) Establishing data exchange and interface mechanism based on IFC by using the relational database and XML technologyBy analyzing the BIM software application requirements in our country, comparing relational database and spatial database, facing the advantages and disadvantages of object database and structural storage file, using the easy functional and logical process of relational database and fast access features of XML files, adopting the thought "Data Hierarchy, Storage Classification" and the clear hierarchy IFC data interchange standard, the BIM data can be divided in to several types according to different levels and purpose. This paper aims at the corresponding data of IFC professional fields, the sharing operational layer and resource layer,combines the need of management process of the whole life cycle of building according to the corresponding storage and access mechanisms of hierarchical structure design of the relational database and XML file,to ensure data sharing, interoperability and scalability between BIM platform, to improve the efficiency of data exchange between BIM tools and to provide flexible storage and access infrastructure for the post-processing of the data.(3) Developing specific function module on construction engineering design optimization platformBy analyzing the requirements of construction project optimization of design process deeply and using BIM and computer technology and related engineering specifications, it designs the corresponding algorithm of automatic structure beam layout, construction engineering material statistics, comprehensive pipeline intelligent collision detection,comprehensive pipeline automatic collision avoidance and pipeline clear height detection.Finally, the corresponding functional test is performed by using the API provided by revit on Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 development platform.(4) Engineering applicationCombining two actual projects(a bus station and a subway station)in Xi’an, this paper performs application tests on automatic structure beam layout, construction engineering material statistics, comprehensive pipeline intelligent collision detection, comprehensive pipeline automatic collision avoidance and pipeline clear height detection respectively. What’s more, it explores the solving the feasibility and practicability of BIM technology on relate project problems in constructional engineering field in our country. The results show that we can reduce the construction rework phenomenon and construction costs by improving construction engineering design quality and efficiency. That means this research has higher use value and application prospect.
