During the past decade, building energy consumption, in China, has risen significantly, whose percentage of the total energy consumption is also soaring. Meanwhile, the building area is being enlarged at a hight speed. The conflict, between high building energy consumption and low share of energy per capital, arouses great attention from the public. Air-conditonging system contributes most to the whole building energy consumption. So it is the key to study on air-conditioning system energy conservation means.An effeitive way is to predict the performance of a new building in the design stage with the help of energy-simulating tools. However, the developing process of these tools is usually isolated. As a result, they cannot share the information of a building model created by other tools. On the other hand, it is needed to establish an energy conservation expert system to guide the maitaince of the complex system.According to these pains above, this paper introduces Building Information Model (BIM) and study on the energy conservation means through building life cycle.Firstly, this paper puts forwards a new way to calculating cooling load based on BIM, and then introduces Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) as the BIM data exchange standard. With help of Extensible Markup Language (XML), the author changes the IFC file into IfcXML format which improve its ability of sharing among platforms.Secondly, map between IFC files and EnergyPlus input data files (IDF) is established, which enables the transformation from IFC files to IDF files. With a real air-conditioning system design case, it is proved that this new cooling load calculating way is effective.Thirdly, the author states the need for building information in building maitaince stage, and a data interface between BIM and building maintaince database is developed.At last, it is the air-conditioning energy conservation expert system design, which is comprised of two parts:one is the air handling unit energy saving rule set and the other is chiller load prediction model.The study bridges the BIM and building energy performance analysis through whole building life cycle. Data tranform application is developed base on C#.NET. A case described in the paper proves the validity of it. What's more, the data interface between BIM and building maintaince database is developed as well. Further, an air-conditiong system energy conservation expert system is designed, which can enhance the efficiency of air-condition system operation...
