In20century early90’s, the moment of the establishing diplomatic relation between China and Korea as the starting point, it became much important to know about how Korean architecture confront the problem "transmission and creation" during globalization. In this situation the desperate tasks of Korean architecture were the systemized comprehension of traditional Korean architectural culture and its contemporaneous characteristic expression. For the comprehension of traditional Korean thought, further develop it to the international, it should be performed with reviewing precedence examples of succession and sort out with reflective phenomenon in present architecture. Therefore, this dissertation researches mainly over year1990what has traditional characteristics, about projects that won for "Korean National Architecture Culture Grand Prize" who has highest authority in Korean architecture, tries to figure out "transmission and creation" method in the expressional feature and its limitation revealed in this approved superior works.Firstly it searches the "transmission and creation" context in Korean Modern Architecture, obtain the characteristics after90s. Interpreting and Sorting the common expressional tendency, by the winner works as the standard, arranges to7different trend. The reason was analyzed, depend on the interpretation of Architect and analysis of the work, sorted to each expression method. Additionally the expression method which repetitively revealed at the works consider as "transmission and creation" expression method after90s.Completing the analysis of selected works, it was possible to sort them to the three large categories:regional transmission, formal transmission, and transmission of content. However, the regional transmission expressed for Vernacularism; formal transmission subdivides into conserative traditionalism, eclecticism, ornamentaism and abstractionism; the transmission of content subdivided to the modernization of space and idea separately.Through this research, characteristics of "transmission and creation" method were attained as the characteristics of the Plan, Elevation, and Symbolization.Also, the limitations of their methods were known as the distortion of Reinterpretation of tradition, the vague criterion of traditional expression, the severance of theory and practice, and the simple imitation that leads to the dearth of perfection in the work.In conclusion, after90s, expressional method of "transmission and creation" comes much various way than previous period. Still, it remains methodologically inadequacy and leaves many assignments.For the right expression of "transmission and creation", it demands comprehension of intrinsic characteristics in traditional idea, the establishment of modernization and visualization of the Korean characteristics, and the incessant researches.
