Study On Basic Theoretic Issue Of Land Aesthetics And Its Application

Land not only has economic value, but also has ecological and aesthetic value. As early as 1940's, Aldo Leopold has expressed the idea of land aesthetics which is a kind of eco-protectionism aesthetics and is of great significance for the change of land-use value orientation from the "anthropocentrism" to the "man-land live in harmony". However, whether in terms of theoretical or practical level, Leopold's land aesthetics idea has long been paid with very little attention. Even today in our country, economic-orientation and anthropocentrism values still occupy the advantage point of the process of land use, management and planning. Land, in the process of uncontrolled development and the arrogation of technical rationality, has already been far away from the beautiful picture of "The Harmony between Human and the Earth". Under such background, we believe it is necessary to further study land aesthetics, which will promote sustainability of land use, coordination of stabilized pluralism of land culture, and maintenance of a lasting harmony for human-land-nature.The dissertation absorbs the theories based on man-land relationship such as natural aesthetics, environmental aesthetics, landscape aesthetic, ecological aesthetic, land ethics, ecological ethics and eco-philosophy, in order to explore the meanings, laws, values and the process of land aesthetics on multi-level. In this dissertation, land aesthetics is defined as inspecting the land from an aesthetic point, and revealing the aesthetic meanings and values of land and land use theoretically and practically. Land aesthetics is not just a kind of aesthetics of abstract sense. It is directly concerned with the interaction of human, land and nature. In fact, it is an aesthetic idea based on the protection of land ecosystems and the promotion of man-land relationship, meanwhile, it is a new conception of existence that arise from the course when human pursues the eco-civilization.This dissertation constructs the basic theoretical framework of land aesthetics from three aspects:philosophy interpretation, sociology aesthetic analysis and aesthetic psychology mechanism.Philosophy interpretation of land aesthetics is expanded from three different levels of epistemology, ontology and axiology. On the epistemology level, the dissertation expounds view of life, sense of worth, ethics, nature, thought, and development of land aesthetics. On the ontology level, we believe that non-dualism advocated by contemporary ecological philosophy is the basis for the establishment of land aesthetics. On the axiology level, the dissertation emphasizes the principles of harmonious and holistic orientation of land use and land use planning.Sociological analysis of land aesthetics includes land aesthetic social environment and land aesthetic social function. Land aesthetic social environment is the foundation of land aesthetics in the reality. The dissertation discusses land aesthetic social environment from natural conditions, economic patterns, cultural environment, social order and the land ethics. Land aesthetic social functions manifest the sociological meanings of the land aesthetics. Land aesthetics realizes the poetic inhabitation, strengthens the sense of home coming from the land. Also, land aesthetics has other social functions such as moral exhortation and emotional purification.Land aesthetic psychological analysis mainly explores the psychological mechanism of land aesthetic feeling, and explores the interaction relationship between land and human spirit. Land aesthetics idea indicates that land and human merge together through aesthetic medium. It is the highest level of land aesthetic psychological to stress the overall harmony of man—land—nature system.As a forward-looking application study, the dissertation finally carries out a land use aesthetic planning, taking Hangzhou as an example. Based on the detailed analysis about Hangzhou's nature and cultural situation, the dissertation makes a plan about land aesthetic resources pattern and constructs land aesthetic resources system of Hangzhou city. We think the land aesthetic planning is not only the enrichment and improvement of traditional planning forms but also inheritance and development of human aesthetic culture. It will be an inevitable trend of social progress to carry out the land use aesthetics planning.
