Scholars at home and abroad have achieved many valuable results in the research of logistics capability, and fully demonstrated the important effects of logistics capability on business performance and competitiveness improvement, but there are still a lot of questions that need to be studied. For example, the preceding studies focused on the correlation between logistics capability and business performance, but failed to explore the intensions, components and improving ways of the logistics capability itself;most researchs are based on enterprise levels, with a very few on whole supply chain levels;they are mainly positivism in the research ways, and lay particular emphasis on statistical observation , analytical statement and empirical verification by actual investigation data, but rarely any special researchs about decision-making by means of Management Science. The study on the scheduling and decision making for logistics capability under supply chain context attempts to combine the"capability-based competition"with"time-based competition",to build optimal scheduling models by quantitative analysis technology, and to provide a specific model and solution for logistics capability management,it involves integrated controls of such many aspects as inventory management, operational cycle time and transportation/ warehouse storage capacity in supply chain. Therefore , the scheduling management and decision making is a inevitable trend in the research of logistics capability, holding theoretical value and practical importance.Having investigated the logistics capability in terms of qualitative analysis and quantitative measurement, this research mainly studies a scheduling model for business logistics capability in a supply chain, a scheduling model for logistics capability in a multi-stage supply chain, a scheduling model for logistics capability in a time-based multi-stage supply chain. The main contents could be summarized as follows:Identifying concepts relative to supply chain logistics capability. This paper Firstly discusses three implications of logistics capability and their relations and differences; Then from the viewpoint of logistical resource and systematical structure it analyses respectively the influence factors, and some interactive mechanisms of the factors such as substitution, complement and integration.Quantitative measurement about supply chain logistics capability. This paper raises the measurement index system from the viewpoint of logistics outcome , and analyses the relations between critical indexes of logistics capability. It thereafter claims how to use AHP ( Analytic Hierarchy Process)) to quantify the qualitative index.A scheduling model for business logistics capability. This paper considers a supply chain firm's logistical capability model, and derives the optimal simultaneous logistical capability and operation plan for a make-to-stock goods under stochastic demand. The optimal logistics capability is constrained by both the demand and the capacity and/or inventory. In the case studied, optimal logistics capacity is a target interval policy. Furthermore,The capacity and inventory are economic substitutes.A scheduling model for logistics capability with a multi-stage supply chain. This paper considers a one-time logistics of a product as a single-period multi-stage supply chain processing flow , and show that the optimal logistics capability policy for this system can be characterized by two critical numbers: the lower and the upper. The principle of mathematical induction is used to prove the conclusion, and a numerical example to test the result.A scheduling model for logistics capability in a time-based multi-stage supply chain. This paper considers a multistage serial supply chain logistics system under constant demand and infinite horizon, and definites the logistics capability as a combination of cycle time and lot size. An integer nonlinear programming formulation is presented for determining a stationary cyclic schedule. A heuristic algorithm is developed for model solution and an numerical example to test the results. The final chapter concludes the whole dissertation and describes the directions of the future research of supply chain logistics capability for the author himself.
