Industrial agglomeration areas are basic units of industrial spatial organization. Through the study of industrial agglomeration areas, this paper analyses the fundamental theory of industrial agglomeration areas and primary characteristics of great urban areas in China urban, and based on the development law and economic results, the paper sets up spatial integration model and innovation model of Industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai. The purpose of this paper is to promote the study of industrial layout in urban area and industrial agglomeration areas in theory, and its findings are helpful to the development and planning of industrial layout in urban area.This paper is composed of 7 chapters, the former 3 chapters of which are concentrated on fundamental theories, for example industrial agglomeration areas, industrial layout in urban area and main characteristics of industrial agglomeration areas in Chinese urban areas. The paper tries to set up the theoretical platform for demonstration study in the later chapters. The next 3 chapters are demonstration parts, and the paper uses theories concerned, to draw on development law of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai, and summarizes the methods or models, then designs innovation model of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai. Finally, as the summarization of the paper, the 7th chapter discusses two important problems of industrial agglomeration areas, from the angle of theory and practice.In the introduction part, the paper presents the backgrounds and significances of the subject. As for backgrounds, the paper gives the reasons in both theory and practice aspects. As for the significances of subject, on the one hand, it would enrich the theory of industrial layout in urban areas and industrial agglomeration areas; on the other hand, its findings would provide references for Shanghai and other cities. And then, the paper introduces the main contents and possible innovation aspects. Finally, the paper puts forward the methods and set up the framework.Chapter one: the summarization of the study of industrial agglomeration areas home and abroad. The study of industrial agglomeration areas is involved in industrial location theory and industrial layout structure of urban, the paper analyses industrial location theory, the theory of industrial agglomeration areas and industrial spatial structure of urban, respectively, to understand the change law of the study of industrial agglomeration areas.Chapter two: the fundamental theory of industrial agglomeration areas in urban area. According to analysis of the chapter one, this chapter, firstly, introduces the impact of land rent and transport costs on industrial layout in urban area, and then found the overall model of industrial layout in urban area; secondly, this chapter introduces the connotation, types and mechanism; thirdly, by integrating macro-facts with micro-factors, sets up the relations between industrial agglomeration areas and urban.Chapter three: the fundamental characters of industrial agglomeration areas of urban areas in China. Following the upper chapter, this chapter expounds the overall spatial structure of urban industry and industrial agglomeration areas, and explains the location of economic and technical development park and hi-technology industry development park in detail.Chapter four: development path and economic performance of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai. This chapter introduces the development process of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai, and gains the law of shanghai: (1)it is clear that the location of industrial agglomeration areas is moving outward; (2) new industrial agglomeration areas are the main kind; (3)six big industry bases are the most parts in industrial agglomeration areas. And finally, the chapter analyses the economic performance in different aspects.Chapter five: the adjustment and spatial integration of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai. Firstly, the chapter provides idea of industrial integration and four kinds of spatial integration; secondly, the main reasons of industrial adjustment are upgrading of urban function, industrial suburbanization and enterprise development; thirdly, the findings prove that industrial spatial structure has undergone great change, on the one hand, dual-structure of industry spatial structure has change into triple-structure, namely inner circle, middle circle and outer circle; on the other hand, the axes of industrial spatial structure is changing from south-north to east-west. And finally, three integration model of industry layout are proved.Chapter six: the optimization and innovation of spatial model of industrial agglomeration areas in Shanghai. According different criterions, spatial model varies, for example, as far as the relation between industrial agglomeration areas with urban area, there are three models, namely the integration model of industrial agglomeration areas and urban, the interaction model and the independence model, and so on. And then, this chapter provides optimization model, in line with its traits, for example pureindustry model, community intervening model and integration model. At the end of the chapter, the paper puts forward the concept of functional node city for the first time, and continues to expound on its meaning, function, outer characteristic, location choice and regional layout etc. Finally, the paper analyses innovation model of Lingang new town and Jiading new town in detail, respectively.Chapter seven: in the final part of the paper, two important problems are brought forward, the first one is spatial scale of industrial agglomeration areas, and the other one is the distance between industrial agglomeration areas and CBD of premier city. And then the paper discusses the problems from theory and practice, and finally provides formulas, both in theory and experience.The paper is characterized in three aspects as followings: for the first time, from the angle of industrial agglomeration areas, the spatial structure of urban industry is approved, and the scale, location, function and spatial organization are discussed detailedly; (2)many kinds of the spatial integration model of industrial agglomeration areas are founded; (3) the optimization method and innovation model of industrial agglomeration areas are put forward.
