This dissertation chooses the management of planted forest of Chinse fir of Qingshui River Basin in southeastern Guizhou during Qing Dynasty as the objective, thus the study is limited to this specific area where, formed naturally, the consisting parts had consistent and closely connected relationship with each other. The paper mainly includes the analysis of the followings: the natural and human resources within the area, planted forest of Chinese fir, lombering and transportation technology, the system of fir's production, transportation and sales based on Qingshui River. The purpose of the work is to illustrate the positive effects of forestry economy of this ares upon the social changes. Focusing on Jinpin county, the author means to observe the district economy and social changes from the outward and inward perspectives, of which the inner mechanism and influence on the outside are to be demonstrated of a typical geographical area in the representative historical period by means of case study. Furthermore, it also contains the lesson from the district forestry economy for the sustainable forestry management in modern China.The whole paper consists of introduction, body part and conclusion. The introduction is to explain the research background, value and present situation of this research and the analysis path.The body part is made up of six chapters. The first three chapters mainly center on the development of the district forestry economy. Chapter 1 introduces the agricultural structure transfer within this area, giving Jinpin county as the example. First, it outlines the natural and human environment, on which the forestry economy of Qingshui River Basin was based, including climate, soil, geography, transporation and culture. The rest of this chapter analyzes the background of the emergence of planted Chinese fir in this area, and shows the fact that Qingshui Basin has succeeded in transferring from the single paddy agriculture to the coexistence of paddy and planted forestry. Chapter 2 observes Chinese fir forestation and transportaion technology of this area and explains the purpose of technological innovation.
