Research On Promoting The International Competitiveness Of Our Nonferrous Metal Industry Based On Supply Chain Alliance

Chinese nonferrous metal industry is large but not strong, and its competitiveness is relatively weak in the international market. After entering WTO, the nonferrous metal industry is confronted with new challenges. How to promote its international competitiveness has become the most urgent mission at present. Supply chain alliance, a competitive-cooperative organizational mode based on sharing reciprocal advantages and resources, is changing the competition pattern and business environment of the globe. It has offered a new mechanism and thinking for the nonferrous metal industry to get out of dilemma and make further development. In this thesis, how to promote the international competitiveness of the nonferrous metal industry is researched from the perspective of industrial organizational structure, the main researches include following aspects:(1) On the basis of defining industrial international competitiveness, it has analyzed the current situation of the international competitiveness of the nonferrous metal industry which is large but not strong. The decisive factors of its international competitiveness are analyzed at the deep level by using multivariate linear regression model. The results show that factors of production, the increasing rate of demand last year and the international competitiveness of relevant industry have positive effect on the international competitiveness of the nonferrous metal industry, whereas the demand of the year, industry concentration ratio, etc. have negative effect.(2) This thesis breaks through the present ideological framework, according to which, the international competitiveness of the nonferrous metal industry should be promoted by adjusting resource structure , product structure, technological structure and organizational structure, and it puts forward and proves that setting up supply chain alliance is an effective way to promote its international competitiveness. The foundation of the supply chain alliance in the nonferrous metal industry can not only bring economics of scale, economics of scope, economics of network and economics of speed, improve the profit rate of the industry, but also improve the decisive factors of its international competitiveness including factors of production, demand elements, relevant and auxiliary industries, etc. Compared with ways of market control or enterprise control, it cost least and makes the heaviest profit for the nonferrous metal industry to implement supply chain alliance for control. All these indicate that supply chain alliance, which is based on sharing complementary resources and advantages, is the optimum industrial organizational model of the nonferrous metal industry at present.(3) Based on analyzing the current situation of the nonferrous metal industry and the advantages and conditions for establishing supply chain alliance, this thesis builds the modeldescribing the foundation of the supply chain alliance of the nonferrous metal industry, a process model which combines with obvious course (the course of organizational change ) and latent course (the course of culture combination). And there is a through inquisition about some key points, such as partner selection, organization restructure. On the basis of putting forward the factors and principles about partner selection, a three-stage model on how to choose partners for supply chain alliance are provided. A spatial structure model is built to show the hierarchical competition of enterprises in the supply chain alliance, and its organizational structure is mentioned, which includes efficient supply chain and responsive supply chain.(4) According to game theory, it is known that the ignorance of the initiative and adaptability of subjects (the local government or enterprises ) is the fundamental causes responsible for the traditional industrial policy's ineffectiveness of the nonferrous metal industry. It pointed out that Government should pay special attention to economic subjects' adaptive choices and make industrial policy based on analyzing the economic subjects' game action when making industrial policy to lead nonferrous metal enterprises to set up supply chain alliance. Only when the interests are shared rationally among alliance members and Pareto improve is realized, can be followed the industrial policy by every economic subject with its validity strengthened.( 5 ) Considering the actual conditions of the nonferrous metal industry, it has researched on how to operate the supply chain alliance. A group decision-making method, which combines both the authority and the democracy, is proposed, and a group motivational model about the distribution of alliance's income is designed. Tactics such as excitation and communication are proposed for the constructive conflicts among the members of the supply chain alliance in the nonferrous metal industry, and tactics such as suppression, judgment and authority for destructive conflicts among them. Considering the trust situation in the nonferrous metal industry at present, some countermeasures are put forward, which impel the men and the enterprises in the nonferrous metal industry to develop from relation trust to general trust, from initial trust to continuous trust. After analyzing the reason for the dynamic inherence of the alliance's policy, it is proposed that alliance committee should restrain its behavior and change its guidelines to make policy in order to realize the dynamic coherence of the alliance's policy.(6) Atypical case of supply chain alliance in the nonferrous metal industry is analyzed, which is used to examine the results of the research in this thesis.
