As one of the Asia-Pacific region's most important tourist destinations, China's tourism industry has been developing rapidly since the reform and opening up and its international competiveness has been greatly enhanced. China has already made a great transition from Asian travelling nation to the world's travelling nation, and began the process of building a world leading tourism country. China's tourism has a bright development prospect. With China's further economic development, Chinese per capita income will reach the level of moderately developed countries, and the consumers'tourism demand will increased substantially. It is the driving force to push tourism industry's continuing development, and China's tourism industry will maintain high growth. In order to fulfill tourists'demand and gain competitive advantage, scenic spot should improve its competitiveness in every aspect such as plan, development and management.Guilin has a good foundation and great development potential, possessing an important position in our country's regional development. Guilin is a famous international tourism city, China's famous historical and cultural city, China Excellent Tourism City and one of China's four famous tourist destination cities chosen by the World Tourism Organization. "East of west, Guilin's scenery is best." Guilin is famous for its green hills, crystal water, odd caves and beautiful rocks. It is a typical representation and classic brands of China's natural scenery. Tourism is the most competitive industry of Guilin, and has great development potential. Our country deploys the comprehensive reform of China's tourism industry strategically in 2009, and puts forward a "an island, a city and a province" structure. Guilin becomes a national tourism pilot region for comprehensive reforms, and the only one city at present. It can give full play to overall advantages in many aspects such as comprehensive reform and promoting economic and social development, and provide model for our country. Through 30 years development, Guilin has already formed the most competitive industry. However, Guilin's tourism is also facing enormous challenges in its progress.Researching on the tourism development of Guilin is not only the need of pushing forward the development of national tourism pilot region for comprehensive reforms and coordinate development of Guilin's tourism, but also the need of China's reform and development.
