| The exploitation and utilization of Non-timber Forest Products (NTFP) is new growth point for increasing farmers incomes and rural economy development. Hickory is one of important NTFPs. Based on the development of land management system reform, the activity of farmers for hickory management improved, the area and output of hickory increased rapidly, more hickory processing enterprises found and hickory market expanded gradually. But the new challenges also appeared in growth and development of hickory industry. So, it's necessary to study the processing and track of hickory industry, analyze the problems in hickory industry and give the suggestions of hickory industry growth.Based on the research of international and domestic, this paper made the Tian Mu mountain as research object, according to the analysis on growth stage and characteristic of hickory industry, it analyze the influence factors and their effects of hickory industry, finally, it give the strategies for hickory industry upgrade through a large sample survey.The conclusion are as follows:(1)The plantation of hickory has a long history in China. The reformation of rural land system improved the development of hickory plantation, the area and output of hickory has increased largely. But the high intensive hickory management caused the local forestland degeneration and made many environment problems.The processing of hickory began in 1950s, after 1990s,the processing enterprises of hickory became increased gradually. Since 2001,the processing enterprises of hickory developed more rapidly, the scale of hickory processing more increased through the invention of hickory which can be exhausted by hand directly. Also, the hickory market expanded and bland construction improved continuously through the market economy development and increase of hickory output.(2)Using the case of three most hickory production counties, this paper analyzed the growth track of hickory industry and fit the growth track with logistic model from different view of variance of output and access of enterprises, respectively. It showed that the hickory industry experienced the formative (1982-1993) and growth period(1993-),but it have not accessed into autumn.According this, it analyzed the characteristics of different periods.(3)This paper analyzed the factors which influenced the growth of hickory based on the wheels power mechanism model.①Market. It analyzed the status of households who as supply subject through change of cost-benefit in households hickory management and enterprises.It analyzed the propensity of consumers through the survey data of public hickory consumption.②Forestland. This paper analyzed the variance of hickory forestland and the effects of forestland utilization,it used regression model to analyze the factors which influenced the planting area of hickory. The results are as follows:the income and forestland area of households has significantly related with the planting area of hickory in households.③Technology. It analyzed the effects of technology from view of R&D and technology popularization.④Organization. It analyzed the prisoner's dilemma in different styles using game theory to find the drive of organizations development. According this, it analyzed the key actors which influenced the industry organization in households, processing enterprises and cooperation organization three levels.⑤Policies.The industry policies of hickory experienced a devious process, it analyzed the industry policies and effects from primary, secondary and tertiary industries.(4)Based on the above analysis, this paper gave the strategies included:①marketing innovation strategy which expand domestic and oversea market;②Imply scale and ecological management to improve the forestland resource sustainable utilization;③Mechanism innovation to imply the progress of industry technology;④reinforce the support of government to improve the industry organization effect;⑤reinforce the support of policies to improve the upgrade of hickory industry.
