Manufacturing industry is the important support of creating human fortune and the important embodiment of the national economy and overall national strength of a country. Economic globalization makes manufacturing enterprises face the competition of market, resource, technology and person with ability. In this environment, manufacturing enterprises desiderate integrate just-in-time many kinds of manufacturing resources to meet the various requirement of business and develop the extensive collaboration among Enterprises to cope with quickly changing market requirements. The emerging and spring up of Grid technology gives manufacturing a new solution and chance to realize resource sharing and cooperative work between enterprises for global manufacturing. In this condition, the Manufacturing Grid (MG) emerges as the times require. MG has been the basic problem that business community and academic circle pay close attention to always and discuss.There are many kinds of manufacturing resources, which belong to various enterprises. They are geographically distributed, morphology diversity and autonomy, which make the resource sharing and management is very complicated in MG This paper mainly research on Manufacturing Grid and the method ofresource virtualization .Virtualization can make a common set of abstract interfaces available for a set of similar resources, thereby hiding differences in their properties and operations, and allowing them to be viewed and manipulated in a common way.Aiming at the problem of resource virtualization in MG, the thesis focus on Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), analyzes the attribute of many kinds of manufacturing resources and study resource description and model, resource virtualization model and method and service select method. CAE resources such as ANSYS software are virtualized and deployed on MG The thesis analyzes the CAE business flow and implements CAE application in MG through logical services composition.The main contributions of the thesis are as follows:1. Manufacturing Grid Resource Virtualization Model is put forward. The model includes three layers: manufacturing resources layer, physical services layer and logical services layer. Manufacturing resources layer are heterogeneous and geographically distributed manufacturing resources, which is provided by enterprises in MG Physical services layer aim to solve the problem of union standard and union invoking interface of various resources. There are many logical services in the top layer, which can fulfill certain business functionality. They are topper level abstract service. Through virtualization, a insulation layer is established between manufacturing resources and application in MG, which make the application not depend on given manufacturing resources.2. The manufacturing resource adapter based WSRF is presented. Manufacturing resources are encapsulated as services based on union open standard. The essential attribute and function are provided and the detail of concrete implement is hidden. Resources deployed in the resource adapter can be managed by the adapter. The resource adapter supports hot deploy, new resources can be deployed without restarting the resource adapter.3. There are many kinds of manufacturing resources, so the encapsulation process is very complex. The paper abstract the public attribute and operate of resources and create resource encapsulation template. The resource encapsulation template includes resource description template and resource implement template. Resource encapsulation templates are managed according to resource type. Users can extend the template based on their own needs. The encapsulating method based on template make the encapsulation process standard and simplify.4. The paper presents the business flow of CAE application in service-oriented Manufacturing Grid. Users can compose logical services according to business flow. Logical service is dynamically bound to a concrete physical service. The change of physical service will not effect the whole application. The paper presents service select method to select most optimal physical service for each logical service.5. In this thesis, several theories and key technologies of manufacturing grid are discussed and solved. Resource adapter based WSRF and Resource encapsulation tool are developed. They have been applied to develop the Manufacturing Grid prototype MGrid and implement CAE application in service-oriented MG Part of results has been applied in "China manufacturing service net" and "Advanced manufacturing service platform of Longkou".The researching on manufacturing grid is far from mature with lots of problems left to study. Building ontology for specific domain, search on service virtualization and perfect the virtualization tools to decrease the difficult of using manufacturing grid are the future work.
