Research On E-Learning Resource Management And Service

E-Learning gives a whole new learning environment for teachers and learners. It applies information technology and education theory to change the conventional education model. The management and services of learning resource are not only the key problems in E-Learning field, but also the important indexes of measuring E-Learning effects. Only when an effective service system of learning resource has been set up can the service qualities be really improved. However, learning resource is different with traditional information resource. First, learning resource may include many kinds of information files, each file may be developed in different standard and difficult to interchange. Second, the digital rights of learning resource is difficult to protect. Third, learning resource is stored in different location in the network and difficult to manage. Fourth, users of learning resource may in anywhere of the network and learning resource service system should provide individual services for each user.This paper introduces the key technologies of d learning resource management and service by three layers: 1)content layer- the description, organization and rights protection of learning resource; 2)management layer- the distributed management of learning resource based on Web Services; 3)service layer- the independent service of learning resource based on Agent.The researching results of this paper are as follows:1. The description, organization and rights protection of learning resource, bringing forward a content description, environment description and rights description model according to the relevant learning resource standards issued by domestic and overseas standard organizations as well as researching institutions and also considering the actual needs of E-learning, making practice in resource description, organization and rights management.2. The distributed management of learning resource, bringing forward a learning resource layered management strategy based on Web Services, giving a rights control method, and implementing the submission, registry, issuance and searching flow as well as management system of learning resource based on Web Services.3. The learning resource service technology based on Agent, bringing forward a learning resource service strategy based on Mobile Agent, analyzing the role and use of Mobile Agent in learning resource registry, synchronization, searching as well as its realizing strategy in the process of source rights protection, implementing the learning resource service system based on Mobile Agent.This paper is supported by the following projects: 1) The Learning Resource Management System subject of E-learning Key Technology and Demonstration Project; 2) The Research on International Standards of Domestic Advanced Technologies in the Research of Key Technologies Standards; 3) The Research on Digital Rights Descriptive Language Standards of Digital Video and Audio Rights Management Technology which is a sub-project of National High-tech R&D Program (e.863 Program). Both 1) and 2) are the key projects of National 10th Five-year Plan.Some researching results have been well applied in Central China Normal University and Chinese Academy of Sciencer. Some draft standard documents have been accepted by CELTSC, AVS and ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36.
