This paper is the continuation of the research project sponsored by the NationalNatural Science Foundation of P.R.China, the Research of innovated appearance designbased on the esthetician's brain model (69973037). It is well known that the existingCAD technology has many insufficiencies for creative design of products, such aslacking self-determinations and the creative capability to conceptual design, and beingunable to renew its knowledge by itself. Aiming at improving on these shortages, thecognitive thinking laws for designers to conducte creative design were analyzedsystemically, and also the core role of inspiration in the creative design thinking wasrecognized.Using the productions from other disciplines like the contemporary cognitivepsychology, the brain & cognitive science and neuropsychology, mental intelligence,this paper demonstrated that the "emergence mechanism of intelligence" is the core ofthe inspiration thinking for the creative process of engineering design, and brought out ahiberarchy of mental-imagical representation of design entityes based on the hybridrepresentation model in the subject of mental-intellgence. Based upon the hiberarchy, amodel of emergent creative design for the conceptual development was set up.Moreover, this paper explored the feasible methods for the CAD system to acquire thedesign knowledge from Internet of itself, which combines searching design informationindividually, filtrating Web texts and extracting design knowledge together. the methodslay a foundation for intelligent CAD system to update and accumulate its knowledge bya self-determinating manner. The main content and creative points are following:1. The intrinsic causes resulting to the shortages of exsiting CAD system wereanalyzed with the eyes of intelligent information processing. Based on the theesthetician's brain model built by our group earlier, this paper firstly suggested a newframework of creative design system that could propounded options of design schemesfor designers of itself, as if their partner have done, and pointed out the main difficulties that must be overcome to develop the framework as above.2. The "emergence natures" of the creative processes of product design weredrawn from the cognitive rules of creative design thinking, and moreover, a cognitivemodel of the emergent creation of products design was suggested using for reference tothe productions from brain science, neuropsychology and so on.3. The limitations of knowledge representation models used by exsiting ICADsystems are shown as paying more attention to the meaning of concepts, but less to theircontacts each other, and paying more attention to the static logic structure of the models,but less to the dynamic evoluting mechanism too. Aiming at these shortages, the MentalImagic Representation of the Design Entities (MIRDE) was set up according to thethought of hybrid knowledge representation used commonly in the like-braincomputation and mental intelligence. Rooting in the neural and cognitive mechanism ofthe visual mental, MIRDE was constructed into a structure with two levels, so that it canbe accorded with the knowledge characters of the design entities. The top level ofMIRDE consts of a set of mental concepts, which are the symbol represente of the user'sfeeling to the product, and the bottom level of MIRDE could be regarded as a featur setthat included all of the structure attributs and its value of the product. The mostimportant thing in MIRDE is the semantice mapping relation between the two levels,that is, the weight value between image concepts of the top and the attributs of thebottom is the core of MIRDE. The learning and adjusting mechanism of the weightmapping endowed the knowledge in MIRDE with the ablity to evolve by itself.4. Basing on the cognitive model of emergent creation of products design, acomputual model of the emergent creation was introduced, which consistent with therules of the information components and transformation in the design creation. Thecomputual model details that the emergent creation of product design is based on themapping relationship between the images concepts in top and the attributs at the bottom.The computual model included two operations, one is creating a set of the designschemes by genetic computation, and the other is evaluating the new schemes by themental entropy. This paper suggested a means to make lots of design schemes, whichbases on MIRDE and used a genetic arithmetic embedded semantic mapping mechanism.For evaluating the options of design schemes according to an image concepte, theconcepte of mental entropy was imported fromthe artificial psychology and emotionmodeling. By mental entropy computing, the numerical evaluation for the options of design schemes can be carried out to simulate the user's mental perception. Thus a newway was built that it makes CAD system be able to create lots of valuable designschemes automaticly.5. In oeder to make CAD systems be able to update its knowledge automationallyand accumulate individuational knowledge, this paper built a methodology to acqirespecial design knowledge from Internet, which combines searching design informationindividually, filtrating Web texts and extracting design knowledge together. Using thethought of "net to Internet" from the field of intelligent information search, the paperbuilt a method to search individuation design information from Internet, which makesthe information search be led by special mental concepts. The core of the method tosearch information is extending the key words set according to the semantic relationshipbetween mental cinceptes in the top level of MIRDE. By introducing the concepte of thegeneral features of multi-text samples, an efficient method to filtrate text collected fromInternet was contributed, so that make the content of texts converge on the user's desires.To updating the knowledge in CAD systems continuely and automationally, this papersuggested a method to extract special knowledge from the filtrated texts that doesn'ttargeted words as exsiting ways, but the "meaning group", that is, a segment of textsincludeing some attributes and thire values. By the methods, a ICAD system will beable to acqire the knowledge it wanted automationally, and moreover to update itsindividuational knowledge accumulation.That is well known that the creation in production conceptual design includes acomplex thinking process. No systemic computing theory have been constituted so far,so this paper detailed a advancing and interdiscipline reseach that aims to improved theability for ICAD sytem to provide creative schemes or ideas to designers. Besidessuggesting new theory and method, this paper has carried out some experiments too, inorder to confirm the effection and feasibility of our methodology.
