| This thesis attempts to study the commercial newspaper New News Daily which has the longest history, largest publication, best profits and widest popularity in journalism of Sichuan. Through the analysis of the contemporary history of Sichuan, this thesis discusses the emergence, development and expiration of the New News Daily in order to probe the law of the mass media evolution, which can be taken as a mirror for the further studies of the new situation and position with the globalization and media diversification.This thesis mainly consists of six parts as follows:Chapter one is the general review of the journalism history of Sichuan to discover its characteristic, which is a foreshadow for the second chapter to trace back to the emergence of the New News Daily.
