We live in a three-dimentional (3D) world, whereas conventional cameras acquire only two-dimentional images and loss depth information. This factor inherently restricts the potential applications of machine vision greatly. To obtain 3D map including depth information, is one of the key theory and technology in machine vision field. The goal of 3D vision measurement is to receive the shape, position and attitude of 3D object to perceive and understand the 3D world by using this depth map. Many methods of 3D measurement have been developed these years. We focused on structured light spatial encoding method, because for 3D information acquiration of the tested object, only one image is needed to be captured by the camera by this method, so it has some advantigies such as high resolution, easy implementation and fast measurement.A method of fast depth information acquiration is proposed in the thesis. By employing the method, the color stripe encoded pattern is created by software with a computer and then projected to an object by a digital projector. The image of the object is captured by a CCD color digital camera positioning with an angle to the object different from that of the digital projector. The 3D coordinates of the object can be obtained by decoding and calculating the parameters from the color image captured. In this thesis, the technique for 3D measurement based on our color stripe permutation encoding is studied both theoretically and experimentally.Based on structured light techniques for 3D measurement, a method of color stripe permutation encoding for 3D measurement is presented. The color stripe encoded pattern with 6 colors, they are three primary colors: red, green, blue and their contrary colors: yellow, magenta and cyan. There is an important character that the combination of three color stripe order is unique, so we can decode the image precisely.The mathematic model of 3D measuring system with color stripe permutation encoding is established based on the formula of structured light.
