Gyro-devices are important sources for millimeter wave and sub-millimeter with the characteristics of high peak power, high average power, high efficiency and suitability bandwidth and so on. It's very suit for the power source of millimeter wave high capability radar, millimeter wave weapons system , millimeter wave communication, plasma heating and other systems. America Russia German, France England and Japan and so on have pay more attention on the research of the gyrotrons. In the late of 1970s, our scientists have made much reseach on it. At 2001, our group leaded by Prof. Li HongFu has successfully developed the first Ka band third harmonic gyrotron with permanent magnetic field system in the world. The detail work on electronic gun depressed collctor and beam wave interaction has been done, under this background, supported by the "9·5 Plan' "10·5 Plan" and "863 Plan"= The main work and innovations of this dissertation are listed as follows:1. Based on the research of the equations of the high density electron beam optics, derived from Maxwell equations, electron motion equation and sequence current equation. The author coded depressed collector software for Gyrotrons named CHAELOPS. The program applied the visualization technique of scientific calculation, object-oriented modeling technique and thoughts of software engineering. The CAD software is friendly, higher precision, rapider calculation speed and so on.2. Detailed study on the electron optics. The physical models and equations of the beam in the electromagnetic field are analysed. The electron motion equation with relativity effects and space charge effects are deeply studied. The more exact magnetic formula is supplied to replace the conventional method. The secondary electron models and the Monte-Karo method are deeply studied.
