High power millimeter wave refers to the relativistic mass effect based on electroncyclotron maser (gyrotron device). As the high power millimeter wave source preferreddevice, gyrotron can work in millimeter wave and submillimeter wavelength rangeproducing a high average power. At the same time, gyrotron also can be employed inmaterial processing, plasma heating, non-lethal weapons[1-10], electron cyclotron heatingand high resolution radar with a good prospect of application and development. In theInternational Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) program[11-18], electroncyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) system is one of the main auxiliary heating modein plasma. Presently,170GHz high power gyrotron has been used as a source ofmicrowave for ITER plan. On the other hand, the United States Air Force ResearchLaboratory (AFRL) had used94GHz gyrotron as a power source of the millimeter-wavenon-lethal weapon system based on Active Denial Technology. The high energy mmbeam absorbed by the surface of target (personnel) could result in severe short-termpain and make the enemy personnel lost the battle, the beam is millimeter wave beam(3mm band) of a very short wavelength[19-21]. It could be envisaged, the millimeter wavebeam is narrow, with high energy and concentrated, can be made into electromagneticwave radiation weapon, which have a strong interference and even cause a certaindegree of damage on the electronic information system of space target (such as satellitesystem).The domestic research of3mm wave (94GHz) power transmitting systemwhich can be used as a window of atmosphere still to be blank. So urgent research isneeded[22-24]This paper focuses on the cyclotron electron beam of170GHz,94GHz magnetroninjection gun for research, with the main use of EGUN and MAGIC simulation. Somekinds of factors which affect the helical electron beam characteristics are simulated indetail and obtained a series of meaningful results. The essential target of the dissertationare presented as:1. Understand the theoretical basis and software use of EGUN. List the theory andcalculation method of electron optics. 2. Numerical analysis and research were made for design and optimization ofmagnetic injection gun.3. Through those work we have gain a set of meaning concludes. We can optimizethe beam performance such as velocity ratio and velocity spread by adjusting magneticfield distribution, the MIG construction, voltage and so on. Have increased efficiency ofdesign.
