With the development of the Internet, the video applications based on internet are growing rapidly. The users request high QoS of the video service. It is a cruces that how to solve the video transmission over the internet. Because of the complexity of the Internet, there are lots of bottleneck problems from the server to the clients over the Internet. We study all the taches, which may influence the QoS of video transmission over the internet.In a VOD system, the storage strategy is very important. A new content, Stream-Copy, is proposed, which can optimize the load balance of the server nodes. A new architecture with Stream-Copy is given. It is described in details and the mathematic model in VOD with Stream-Copy is analyzed. The technology of Stream-Copy improves the performance of the VOD servers.Layer-encoding technology can provide different QoS among the different bandwidth. Current surveys about layer transmission are focus on the fact that how to improve the QoS after the element layer has been received successfully. Seldom pay attention to the loss of the element layers packets caused by the complexity of the Internet. In this paper, we propose a novel transmission control algorithm, AFEC-Advanced FEC control algorithm. We analysis the theory of FEC coding and adapt it in our algorithm. We modify the sending rate by the special Kalman filter. With the predict calculating, we solve the fluctuation caused by the loss of the ACK packets. The state of the algorithm is given. This algorithm solves the problem of the base-layer loss in layered transmission and keeps the continuity of the video playing. Evenly, this algorithm can use to transmite some important information over the internet. At last, we give the simulation results, which indicate the algorithm can provide good video service in the network of high loss rate.The real-time video applications become popular. Because of the complexity of the network and real-time demand of stream video, the schedularing algorithm has great influence on the QoS.
