In recent years, along with the latest video compression technology, embedded technology and real-time network transmission technology as the core of the new rapid development of video surveillance systems, embedded video and audio server has become the video surveillance industry hot. The video and audio server can capture audio and video data by image pre-processing, high efficient compression coding, and use the public network transmission, allows users to watch live images through a browser without the limitation of time and place and flexible configure system parameters.This paper gives the hardware and software platform framework and function requirements of video and audio server based on the introduction of the video surveillance system. It analyzed the video coding and streaming media transmission key technology, and detail designs the video coding, system management, network real-time transmission as well as web server function modules, realizes the video-audio data acquisition, real-time transmission and remote control. Finally, gives the test results, test results show that the server can capture audio and video signal, compression coding by H.264/MPEG-4/JPEG, real-time network transmission by the use of RTP/RTCP protocols, and it allows users to directly use the browser to view the real-time video, controls the video and audio parameters capture and external device though the built-in embedded Web server, achieve the basic requirements.
