The research on spatio-temporal rule of urban space expansion and urban landscape pattern can support decisions for urban planning and construction. This thesis, with the theory and methods of geographical Info-Tupu, landscape ecology and GIS&RS as foundation, selecting Shanghai city as an example, constructed the theoretical and methodological system for urban landscape info Tupu, studied the rule of urban space expansion, the pattern-process of single landscape element such as urban green landscape, urban thermal landscape and high buidings, et ah With urban thermal landscape, the integrated token of urban landscape as the breach, studied the influential mechanism of several landscape elements on thermal landscape pattern. At last, an Urban Landscape Model System(ULMS) was designed and developed. Therefore, this study has theoretical and methodological significance. On the one hand, a new angle of view for urban landscape research was provided. The theory and methods of geoscience was enriched. On the other hand, ULMS is a relative perfect environment for analysing urban space expansion, urban landscape pattern and its process.In Chapter 1, discussed the study background and evolvement at home and aborad of urban landscape info Tupu. It was found that the main theory and methods for urban landscape research is landscape ecology, but the exertion of geoscience info Tupu appears to be few. At last, the basic goal, content and research flow was founded for urban landscape info Tupu and ULMS.In Chapter 2 , several theoretical and methodological foundation was summarized. It was pointed out that the main purpose of studying urban landscape info Tupu and ULMS is, (l)with the theory and methods of geoscience info as the basis, to reveal the character of urban expansion and urban landscape pattern accoding to the results of ULMS, (2)to regulate and to control the urban expansion, urban landscape variance, developing speed and scale effectively, (3)to provide decisions support for urban developing, managing and to solve urban ecological and environmental problems. In Chapter 3, with three years' Landsat image data(TM) as the basis, four profiles were designed, several primary landscape elment, such as urban built area, green land and water, et al were classified by NDVI index. The urban expansion and their difference were analysed in the eight direction, the Tupu for urban expansion were constructed from 1989 to 2003. At last, the impact of urban expansion on its interior landscape structure were revealed microcosmicly using aerol image data.
