Russia is the biggest social system-transformed country in the world and the transition from socialism to capitalism of Russia is the most important historical event in the 20th century. Many "vivid operas" played for us in this hard process of political restructuring, economic structural reform in the light of patterns of market-oriented economy, cultural structural reform according to the standard of capitalistic democratization, liberalism and multiculturalism. Many social conflicts and crisises are continuously provoted. It has drawn world-wide attention.Mass media comes into existence when human society reached a particular stage of its development. Today, mass-media stays in people's daily lives, plays an important and irreplaceable role in the realm of politics, economics, culture, military affairs, diplomacy, ect.. As an important subsystem of society, mass media and society are interrelated and interact on each other. Mass media is directly affected by such social factors as political, economic and cultural ones; the information communication of mass media in turn reveals conditions of social development. During the past decade of transition in Russia, the complicated process of social transition was obviously mirrored in the communication of mass media that played a very important role in the social reform. Meanwhile, the modern Russian mass media, which is affected by social transition, has changed a lot. The capitalist system of journalism is initiated in Russia. As a result, we think that when more and more scholars begin to study the transition of Russian society, we have no reason to neglect its mass media. So far as the angel of mass media's importance and the typicality of Russian media's changes are concerned, this study is also of great importance to theory and practice.With Russian political restructuring , economic transfer and cultural structural reform as the backdrop, with a great deal of original data and from the point of cultural sociology, applying the method of reasoning, prove and comparison, the current dissertation showcases the in-depth change and analyzes the transitional characteristic of Russian mass media. It includes the following aspects: three factors as the backdrop of modern Russian media's transition- politics, economics and culture; the present development of modern Russian mass media; the set up mass media system of liberalism in Russia; the management and administration of Russian mass media on condition of market-oriented economy; the cultural structural transfer and the transition of Russian mass media; the multifunction of Russian mass media; the change of journalists' and receivers' social status; the comparison of the reform of Russian mass media and Chinese mass media.Through the analysis of this dissertation we know that Russian mass media went through four stages of changes. It shows the next characteristics:1. The modern Russian mass media is changed from a single structure to a multilevel structure. The various mass media (newspaper, magazine, television, broadcast, internet) constitutes a media net. The substance of its communication is various and colorful. The modes of mass media's ownership are different. The administration is multilevel. The function of mass media's communication is varied.2. Electron medias whose representative is the television, hold more important position in the society. It says that the influence of modern Russian mass media shifts from plane to stereoscopic.3. The modern Russian mass media has already taken the market-oriented economy road. As one kind of cultural industries, mass media manufactures cultural consumer goods and has scored fairly success. Now its management is emphasized very much in Russia.4. The pluralistic development of modern Russian mass media provides the journalists and the receivers with more liberal information space. The journalists wield a lot of power to choose and communicate information. The social status of receivers is raised in the process of communication.5. The development of the task of jour...
