The progress of information technology and the development of knowledge economy provide newtools and methods for speeding up the scientific research information and supporting the environment ofscientific research innovation. Scientific research way is undergoing tremendous changes, and scientificresearchers' information needs also become more and more profound. As to current information services,there are three main problems:(1) the previous universal service has been difficult to support constantlyreinforce of research subtilization;(2)Scatter and disorder of domain knowledge make it hard to meetthe increasing professional knowledge service needs;(3) the lack of knowledge communicationenvironment for specific professional field, severely limits research cooperation and sharing.Therefore, in view of the above problems, constructing a scientific research domain informationenvironment, which is oriented to professional research fields, around the innovative team, researchgroup, key laboratory and personal scientific research information processing, is a valid approach tomake close communication with front-line scientific researchers, to receive feedback, to embed theinformation services into scientific research process, and finally to realize service innovation andtechnology innovation. It integrates the information resources, information services, informationexchange, and user work process in one body.The research object of this paper is the construction of domain-oriented scientific researchinformation environment. In this paper, concept theory and construction method of domain researchinformation environment was put forward. Research information environment prototype system of ricedomain was developed, and rice plant diseases and insect pests diagnosis reasoning was realized. Themain contents and research achievements are as follows:(1) On the basis of research information environment construction status investigation at home andabroad, application scenarios of domain research information environment was analyzed, and thus theconcept of domain research information environment was put forward.(2) The research brought forward the overall construction scheme of domain research informationenvironment. It became clearer about the construction goal, system architecture, construction contentand service system of domain research information environment.(3) The knowledge organization system frame structure of domain research informationenvironment was designed. Scientific research ontology and the domain ontology of rice plant diseasesand insect pests were also constructed.(4)The frame design of technology platform was finished. Besides that, the design and realizationof some core functions were completed, such as the knowledge service function, domain knowledgeorganization and management tools, corporation supporting components, and data service interfaces andso on.(5) Service mode of domain research information environment technical platform was researched.A prototype system for the knowledge services of the rice domain was developed, and diagnosis reasoning based on rice plant diseases and insect pests ontology was realized.Those research results of this paper have certain theoretical research value and practicalsignificance in further research on theories and methods of domain knowledge organization,establishing further agricultural professional research knowledge network, and achieving broadknowledge sharing, collaborative services and fully utilization of professional knowledge.
