Study On Analyzing And Guiding Mechanisms Of University Students' Opinion And Sentiments On Internet

It pointed out in the report of the Sixteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) "As members of CPC, we should perfect decision-making mechanism in order to deeply acquaint with national conditions, fully express people's opinion to the higher echelon, widely collect their wisdoms, earnestly cherish the resources of the people. Establish a system of reflecting social conditions and public opinion...". In the report of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of CPC has clearly written "To expand the channels for reflecting social conditions and public opinion, to become more responsive to the complaints of the people" and "To attach importance to the analysis of public opinion and sentiments on Internet". Facing the new situation and new stage, this is an important decision that has been made by the CPC. It is required that all the party members high value the research work of public opinion and sentiments on Internet. The research of public opinion and sentiments is a new and important academic field that should be urgently developed.With the rapid development of Internet technology worldwide the Internet medium has been recognized as "the Fourth Medium" after newspaper, broadcasting and television. It has become a collecting and distributing center of ideological and cultural information and an amplifier of public opinion. The university students are the important groups among the netizens who respond to the hot spots of society most vigorously, actively and sensibly. It's easier for them to express their opinions about the social focus and hot spots of society. It is possible that sensationalizing news will occurred on Internet, and an individual discontented attitude will spread like a contagious disease among the whole group and become dissatisfied sentiments, these dissatisfied sentiments explode and form public opinion and sentiments on Internet if their opinions and suggestion were not taken seriously or delayed. As a part of social public opinion and sentiments, the public opinion and sentiments of university students reflect and affect the occurrence and development of it. Therefore, to strengthen the research, analysis, management and guidance of information on the public opinion and sentiments of university students, to establish and perfect a system of guidance of them will play an important role in the healthy development of university campus Internet culture. It needs to use and absorb related researching results and methods home or abroad for reference, and there is more of need to innovate the theory and researching methods of our own at the same time.On the basis of basic approach of dialectical materialism, theory research is combined with empirical analysis and systematic analysis in this research. With the guidance of Marxist Theory, the public opinion and sentiments of university students on Internet has been systematically described, analyzed and studied in the paper while using the theory and knowledge on ideological and educational politics, psychology, sociology, public opinion and science of public administration for reference.This study clarifies the concepts and connotative meaning of the 'will of people','public opinion and sentiments','public opinion'and 'Internet public opinion and sentiments'. Starting with the theory used for this study for reference, the objective and epistemological factors for the occurrence of Internet public opinion and sentiments of university students is described. Its contents, features and status quo are pointed out through the analysis of practical reasons and regular pattern for its formation. The laws of spreading, rising and falling, sequence changing, and vanishing for the change of university students'public opinion and sentiments are brought to light. Its subject and object, relationship between them and their essential characteristics are discussed. It is thought that the space of Internet public opinion and sentiments is consisted of "hard space" and "soft space". "Soft space" includes such restrictive factors as order regulation, role regulation, objective regulation and a part of national culture and tradition. The paper centers on the probe into collecting and ordering, analyzing and judging, and administrating of information on the Internet public opinion and sentiments of university students. It is concluded from the above investigation that giving guidance for the Internet public opinion and sentiments should follow such principles as people-oriented, combination of ideological and political education with solution of the practical problems, and combination of guidance for public opinion and sentiments with scientific management. The ordinary education approaches as diverting education, comparative education, typical education, stimulating education, and special education approaches as preventive education, psychological counseling, thought transformation are applied to give guidance for it. The last part of the paper lays emphasis on the guiding mechanisms such as coordinating, communicating, ensuring the management of Internet public opinion and sentiments, information collecting and feedback, and crisis precaution and handling for the Internet public opinion and sentiments of university students.The innovations of this paper is to research the Internet public opinion and sentiments of university students in perspective of ideological and political education, while using the theory and knowledge of psychology, public opinion, sociology etc. The status quo, causes, spaces and changing laws of it are revealed through empirical investigation and analysis. A set of mechanisms is built for guiding the Internet public opinion and sentiments of university students.
