Philosophical Reflection On The Contradiction Of Chinese High-education Transformation

During the process of contemporary China's social transformation, the problems of high education and its contradictions come into the attention of the whole society, which should be reflected from the view of philosophy as well. In the global context, China's high education has seen a significant change with the transformation of China's market economy society, unfortunately, the improper location among education, market economy and government administration as well as their inharmonious relationship lead high education astray away from its original idea, as a result, a series of problems come into being in China's high education reform: the contradiction between centering on human and market inclination, the contradiction between the masses education and elite education, the contradiction between education justice and education efficiency, academic freedom and administration as standard, the contradiction between education globalization and education localization, etc.These problems restrict seriously China's high education reform and its development, therefore we should adjust the relationship between high education and market economy. At the same time, we should also reflect deeply the value of high education and the social functions it bears in order to set up the true idea of contemporary China. This can be best done from the perspective of education philosophy. On one hand, such reflection has all-sides view over contemporary China's social development and high education reform, so the inner logic of the process can be mastered better. On the other hand, the reflection analyzing the inner contradictions of high education will broaden the research on education philosophy.From the perspective of Marxist education philosophy, this thesis examines completely contemporary China's social development and high education reform. Focusing on its contradictions, the thesis firstly analyzes critically such education philosophy ideas as humanism and utilitarianism, theory of knowledge and politics, centering on individual and centering on society in modern western education philosophy. In addition, the thesis expounds systematically the viewpoints of education nature, education value and philosophy of kind of Marxism on human's overall development and points out that education should be aimed at promoting the free development of human beings. Secondly, the thesis examines the dialectical relationship between individual and social development, analyses such contradictions as those between centering on human and market inclination, the masses education and elite education, education justice and education efficiency, academic freedom and administration as standard, education globalization and education localization. The contradictions lie in the implication of marketing logic and administrative logic over self-governed high education, leading high education astray away from its own value and social functions. At last, combining scientific development view with harmonious social construction, the thesis puts forward that China's high education should set up harmonious developing ideas——centering on human, seeking truth from facts, advancing step by step and depending on self. Following the developing rules of high education, we should increase the self-governed power of high education, leading it back to its own value to lessen the strike of market logic and administrative logic, thus China's high education will go forward on harmonious development road.The main contents of the thesis are as follows:Chapter 1. Problem awareness to contemporary China's high education reformIn the first place, the general trend of high education reform in the context of globalization is disclosed. Secondly, the process of high education reform in the context of China's social transformation is disclosed. In such cases, the contradictions of high education reform are listed which put the realistic problems into the field of theoretical philosophy reflection.Chapter 2. Contradictions of ideas in western education philosophy The thesis analyses humanism and utilitarianism, theory of knowledge and politics, centering on individual and centering on society and clarifies the mainstreams in modern western education philosophy. Then a deep analysis is made on the dialectical relationship among the three mentioned above, which provides an important theoretical basis for studying contemporary China's high education.Chapter 3. Idea of Marxist education philosophyThe thesis elaborates the viewpoints of education nature, education value and philosophy of kind of Marxism on human's overall development. Especially, the dialectical relationship between individual and social development is analyzed deeply. This part points out that education should be aimed at promoting the free development of human beings, which provides a philosophical basis for criticizing western education philosophy ideas.Chapter 4. Contradictions in China's high education transformation and its causesThis chapter states with emphasis five contradictions in the process: centering on human and market inclination, the masses education and elite education, education justice and education efficiency, academic freedom and administration as standard, education globalization and education localization. This part generalizes that the contradictions lie in that high education turns away from its own value and functions because of marketing logic and administrative logic, therefore, reasonable logic of high education and market economy should be rebuilt.Chapter 5. Innovation in ideas and institute of contemporary China's high educationIdeas innovation means that harmonious development view should be set up in high education transformation. Institute innovation is embodied in macro-administration construction and micro-administration construction. Both are urgently needed. To conclude, China's high education to innovation should be as follows: keep in track of its own developing rules and increase its subjectivity, at the same time, improve constantly its inner and outer administration system to make sure that China's high education will develop independently and harmoniously.
