The thesis explores the views of the harmony in the educational thoughts of Confucius, a world-renowned educator. The analysis of those views and the exploration of Confucius' educational theory and practice will undoubtedly afford positive and instructive use for reference to the current teaching practice and theoretical innovation, particularly at the background of the constructing harmonious society and harmonious education in our country.The social background and theoretical foundation for Confucius'educational practice and theory are first introduced in the thesis, and then the exploration of the connotation and essence of the views of the harmony. After explanation of the process of educational practice and remarkable achievements made by Confucius, the thesis lays emphasis on the unique teaching practice of "You Yu Yi" and its huge significance of integrating theory and practice.Based on this, the harmonious idea of Confucius'educational thought is studied deeply from the six aspects. First, Confucius puts forward "making no social distinctions in teaching and the happy feeling teaching thought", which contains the ideas of attaching importance to social reality, caring for life and respecting life with the purpose to achieve the people-oriented turning. Second, the "Fu Shu Jiao" theory points out that politics, economy and education are three pillars for the nation in which education plays an important role in national prosperity and social development. In addition, "the harmony but not sameness thought" achieves the functions of cultural inheritance about society and civilization in education by education and collation of ancient books. Third, Confucius proposes the educational objective of unity of "ZHI, REN, YONQ YI" for adult education, the morality-developing thought education, the moral personality-the scholar and the gentleman so as to actively construct ideal personality for moral subject, which have a deep influence on the late intellectual's outlook on life and value. Fourth, the classical six arts and six classiques pay much attention not only to the cultivation of students'competence but also the harmony of sense and sensibility, at the same time make the "REN" principle run through it all,in order to unify the educational contents and personnel training goal. Fifth, Confucius employs the communicative-teaching mode, principle of individualized instruction mode according to students'aptitude and so on to create harmonious teaching context. All of these methods focus on the recognition of the predominant status of the education and the educated. Sixth, Confucius employs the method of "moderation" and creates a harmonious relationship between the teacher and the students by controlling the teaching and learning correctly. Seventh, the consistency between the ideology of moderation and harmony and harmonious idea of Confucius'educational thought will eventually be revealed by analysis so as to point out the kernel of Confucian ethic, "morality-developing thought".Last, the paper presents some insights into the creation of harmonious university:first, university should be conscious of cultural transmission and culture innovation; second, the ultimate aim for the university is to cultivate a generation with the spirits; third, university should strengthen the integration of scientific education and liberal education; fourth, harmonious relationship between the college students and teachers should be established and encouraged. Fifth, the teaching mode should be bettered and the teaching efficiency enhanced.
