Studying language origin is an important stage during the research of the relative words between Min dialect phonology and Tai—Kadai languages. The historical headstream and development of the Min dialect phonology and Tai—Kadai languages are discussed according such materials as language characters, transferred people, folklore and archaeology.We can observe the relationship between the Min dialect phonology and Tai—Kadai languages relying on the cultural background. The predecessor of Tai—Kadai languages distributing in the south of the Changjiang River communicated with the predecessor of Min at one time. The penetrative and mingled culture imprinted in the languages, which can be testified by the rock-bottom words in the Min dialect.Min dialect is a complicated language in the Chinese system of the Sino—Tibet phylum. There is not only commonness but also difference within the secondary Min dialect. We compare the common characters of Min dialect with the Tai—Kadai languages and analyze the 310 relative words. Then the corresponding relationship about the finals and initials are investigated in order to research the evolutive rules and the common trends of the relational languages, which can prove the immanent relation between Chinese and Tai—Kadai languages.
