"the Story Of A Marriage" Dialect Word Study

The purpose of this dissertation is to study the dialect vocabulary in the Marriage Stories to Awaken Men ( 《醒世姻缘传》 ). On this base, we will give our opinion on the writing age. This dissertation consists of the part of introduction and five chapters.Chapter 1, in this part, we describe the general picture of the dialect vocabulary in the Marriage Stories to Awaken Men ( 《醒世姻缘传》 ). Some dialect vocabulary of them are discussed in the order of Archaic Chinese, Mediaeval Chinese and Early Modern Chinese.Chapter 2, in this part, we depict the general picture of the dialect vocabulary on space level. Something must have been imposed on the dialect vocabulary, such as politics, economy, migration, government of non-native people.Chapter 3, under the title "the relationship between dialect and mandarin", this chapter falls into four sections. Section I we discuss words in mandarin which degraded into expression in dialect. Section II common words will influence on dialect vocabulary . Section III mandarin will give its election in the course of competition with A and B existing in south dialect and north dialect. Section IV the competition of pronunciation with A and B in dialect will give birth to new words in mandarin.
