The Research Of Auxiliary Verb In Marriage Destines To Awaken The World

The auxiliay verbs compose only a small part of the verb,but are a "problematic kind".Comparing with the grammatical characteristics of the general verbs,the auxiliary verbs have their unique syntactic struetures and semantic characteristics.Based on the former studies of the older generactions,thesis chooses Marriage Destines to Awaken the World,which was written during the period of transition from the modern times to the contemporary times,as the object of the study.A comprehensive and systematic description of the auxiliary verbs in the book is carried out.This thesis does detailed research into the 22 auxiliay verbs and offers respective explanations of their grammatical characteristices in order to display the changing tract of the auxiliary verbs in the development of Chinese.The thesis is composed of five chapters.Chapter one is the introduction which states the valueand current situation of the study of the Marriage Destines to Awaken the World.Meanwhile,a test is made on the author and its composing time.Chapter two make an overall exhibition of the auxiliary verbs in terms of its name,part of speech,definition,etc.And summarizes some typical acompishments of the older generations.Based on the above analysis,the thesis raises five criteria to define the auxiliary verbs.It divides the auxiliary verbs in the Marriage Destines to Awaken the World into three kinds:possible,willing and responsible.It fixes the boundaries of each kind with meaning as its main criterion.Based on the above classification,chapter three makes detailed analysis and description about the syntactic structure of the auxiliary verbs appearing in the book.The usage of each auxiliary verbs is observed with its grammatical characteristics being summed up.Since the syntactic structure of each auxiliary verbs is described,chapter four anallpe the semantic units of auxiliary verbs—semanteme.The semantemes fall into two categories:the mutual semantemes and the distinetive semantemes.The semantemes fall into two categories:the mutual semantemes and the distinetive semantemes.Various semantemes of each kinds are analyzed.Chapter five makes a diachronic comparision between the auxiliary verbs in Marriage Destines to Awaken the World and medieval times,through which some changes in the development of auxiliary verbs are figured out.Thus,the features in the usage of auxiliary verbs are summarized.
