The Postmodernity Turns And The Revolution Of Philosophical Thought Models

Modernity has become a hot issue in academia today. What is modernity? How did it come into being? Is it still an ongoing endeavor? Have we already entered into its final phase? All of those pending questions, together with the uprising of postmodernism, render this field increasingly complicated and obscure. In post-modern environment, modernity is anything but a self-proving historical testimony, i.e. modernity that doesn't undergo reflection and criticism is undoubtedly suspicious. Therefore, modernity needs to be critically questioned, deconstructed and overthrown. Characterized by reflection and critique, post-modernity theories and discourse are dedicated to revealing the limitations and crisis hidden in modernity, to depriving legitimized identity that modernity has. It even declares that modernity's grand scheme has failed and it has entered the final phase. Post-modernity decomposes modernity's self-alleged legitimacy and focuses on its concerns, crisis and termination. Discourse in modernity and post-modernity is the result of the response to the symbolized philosophical happenings such as the Auschwitz and the Gulag Archipelago. Without historical background, it is hard to appreciate the real history brought up by modernity and postmodernity and the complicated relationships between modernity and historic events. Modernity crisis is the origin of post-modernity discourse whose theoretical objective consists of problematic consciousness and criticism.
