| Huangdi' s Classic on Medicine is a general medical collection which appeared in the Warring States and Qin-Han Period of ancient China. It was the foundational classic of traditional Chinese medicine theory and considered as the standard by medical scientists of different dynasty for its abundant record of clinical treatment. The ancient classical learning of heat disease treatment practice was summarized in the heat disease treatment part of Huangdi's Classic on Medicine. Informative records on the occurrence, syndrome, outcome and prevention and treatment of heat disease formed a preliminary theory and principles. Those diseases which were caused by exogenous pathogen, characterized by being rush to morbidity, fast-changing, obvious fever and short course were called heat disease in Huangdi's Classic on Medicine.. "Heat" in Huangdi' s Classic on Medicine should be a concept of disease name from the analysis of various aspects, It had a broad scope including cold pathogenic disease, epidemic febrile disease, fever disease in summer, convulsive disease, chills and fever diseases, intestinal abduction, malaria disease, intercourse wind, sore caused by varnish poisoning wind, jaundice and general fever disease which was not given specific name. Differentiation of syndromes according to the theory of six meridians system was created for the first time in Huangdi's Classic on Medicine, the theory of fever disease transformation from exterior and interior, following the meridians and being attack twice were recorded. The diaphoresis and emesis treatment mainly by means of acupuncture also mentioned in the book. These set up a solid foundation for the formation and development of the heat diseases theory in traditional Chinese medicine.
