Objective: Pediatric exogenous fever is one of the most common diseases in pediatrics of traditional Chinese medicine. It has accumulated abundant clinical experience and huge theoretical system in history. However,in its long process of development, its theoretical system has produced different academic views and differentiation;in different historical periods, different regions, different physicians have different views on the treatment of exogenous fever in children, evolving into different academic schools. As a result, there are academic differences in the recognition and treatment of exogenous fever. In order to explore the academic development route of these schools and the influence of the works of traditional Chinese medicine in the past dynasties,to explore the discovery, development and contribution of these doctors and works, and to explore the positive impact on the prevention and treatment of exogenous fever in pediatrics, this topic is specially carried out.Method: 42 classical works of pediatrics and comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine from the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties to the founding of the People's Republic of China were selected. The contents of exogenous fever in children, including disease recognition, differentiation of symptoms and signs, rule of law and clinical medication, were sorted out and analyzed to find out the law of its academic development,to explore its academic origin and to sort out its academic contribution.Result: The development of pediatric exogenous fever treatment theory shows obvious stages. In the first stage, from the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, only a few symptoms of exogenous fever in children were recorded, and the prescriptions and medicines were very simple, showing that the theory of Pediatrics had not yet appeared. The second stage begins with the emergence of Treatise on Febrile Diseases.Treating exogenous fever in children with the theory of typhoid fever has become the academic mainstream. In the third stage, from the Sui and Tang dynasties, there appeared the coexistence of cold medicine and typhoid theory in the treatment of exogenous fever in children. The fourth stage is the rise of the theory of "cold school".Its "Xuanfu Qi-liquid theory" and "fire-heat theory" not only directly affect the theory of Pediatrics in TCM,but also become the source of febrile diseases in later generations. The fifth stage is the development and maturity of the theory of febrile diseases, which is integrated with the theory of the treatment of exogenous fever in children, and promotes the development of the basic theory of Pediatrics in traditional Chinese medicine. Conclusion:The treatment of exogenous fever in children in pediatrics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has been developed with the development of TCM theory. It originated from the Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic and took shape in Treatise on Febrile Diseases. With the development of traditional Chinese medicine theory, new ideas and methods have been derived. After the emergence of Treatise on Typhoid Fever, the theory of Typhoid Fever has been in the dominant position in the treatment of exogenous fever in children, and it has been coexisting with the theory of "Cold School" for hundreds of years after its gradual maturity.Until the rise of febrile diseases in Qing Dynasty and the integration of febrile diseases treatment theory with exogenous febrile diseases in children, the theory of typhoid fever basically withdrew from this academic field.
