Objective: To clarify the concept and connotation of lung yang deficient; to reviewthe prescription to lung yang deficient existing in ancient and modern literatures; to studythe cause, mechanism, diagnostic method and treatment of lung yang deficient, toformulate the corresponding norm and to provide theoretical basis for the clinic diagnosisand treatment of lung yang deficient; to deepen the research on syndrome.Methods: The combination of literature study method and statistical method is used.The theories and syndromes referring to lung yang and lung yang deficient are sorted outby using TCM literature study method; the frequent herbs and their channel tropism aresummarized in the form of a frequency table; the law of compatibility of the medicine isstudied by using cluster analysis; frequent combination of herbs are found by adoptingassociation rules and the law of compatibility is explored; the curative effect of the tonicprescription to lung yang is verified by applying to clinical research method.Results: First, the records on lung yang and lung yang deficient in literatures aresorted out and summarized in chronicle. Secondly, the ancient literature prescriptiondatabase and the modern periodical prescription database aimed at treating lung yangdeficient are set up. the prescription to lung yang deficient is mainly those herbs that cantreat deficiency, reduce phlegm, relieve asthma, relieve exterior syndrome, warm interior;the medicine nature is mainly warm,mild,heat in property; the flavors are generallypungent,sweet, bitter; mainly belong to lung meridians. Thirdly, according to the analysisof the prescription database the tonic prescription to lung yang is found based on thefrequent medicine compatibility. Fourthly, the cause, mechanism, diagnostic method andtreatment of lung yang deficient are established. Fifthly, the efficiency of tonic prescriptionto lung yang in reliving the patients amounts to91.6%. It can improve theFEV1,FEV%,FEV1/FVC of COPD.improve FVC,FEV%,PEF of asthma.and raise IgG, IgA, IgM,PMN and TLC.Conclusion: First, lung yang is of objective existence and lung yang deficient is afrequent clinical syndrome. Secondly, invigorate deficiency,dispelling the exogenousevils,resolve the phlegm are three principles of treating lung yang deficient. Thirdly, basedon the analysis the tonic prescription to lung yang deficient can be found. Fourthly,according to clinical research, tonic prescription to lung yang deficient can relieve thepatients' syndrome, improve ventilated function and immunity.
