China Seawater Desalination Industry Of The Mechanism Study

Freshwater crisis is our common environmental problem in the world, with increasing population and urbanization level, the freshwater situation of China will become more severe in the future. So desalination becomes a vital method to ease this crisis, although still in the initial stage. As the attention focus for academics and policy makers, desalination is far from their high expectations. Based on the existing theory of circular economy, industry economy, industry cluster and sustainable development, the dissertation has an in-depth exploration on the inherent mechanism of seawater desalination industrialization. This relatively novel topic, is of great realistic significance in the process of the industrialization of China's seawater desalination. Research findings and conclusions are mainly included in the following:Firstly, it defined the connotation and extension from the perspective of industrial economics. Learning from the successful international experiences, it has an analysis of the evolution law and dynamic changes, which show the desalination as a new way in the coastal regions of China.Secondly, based on the concept of marginal cost, a comprehensive benefit evaluation system was built including three indexes between long-distance water diversion and desalination, such as the economic cost, ecological benefits and social benefits. The comparison results after the quantitative and qualitative analysis show, that the key factor is the desalination cost, and only will it be possible to realize the energy reduction in the way of the industrialization.Thirdly, on the basis of comprehensive benefit evaluation between long-distance water diversion and desalination, three industrialization paradigms were formed in order to effectively lower desalination cost, thereby also enhancing the overall efficiency. Such as energy-saving portfolio, industry chain extension and industry cluster development.Finally, the evaluation index system of desalination industrialization was built by the AHP method. And the influential factors were identified in the use of weights, so as the inherent driving force. Furthermore, the spatial propulsion model and operation mechanism of China's seawater desalination industrialization were constructed. And the innovative path was proposed to accelerate the industrialization process of seawater desalination from the perspective of sustainable development. The reasonable and workable research program was determined in the basis of so much solid preliminary investigation done. Based on the background analysis of the global water crisis, this doctoral dissertation focuses on the inherent mechanism of the desalination industrialization with the benefit evaluation between long-distance water diversion and desalination. It owns the distinctive features and advanced research tools.
