The Pyramidellidae Gray,1840are marine ectoparasitic gastropods that occur inboreal to tropical waters worldwide and from the intertidal zone to several thousandmeters. As an important part of mollusca fauna, the Pyramidellidae plays a significantrole in the marine ecosystem. Because of its small size, variations in shell shape andinsufficient sampling, this family has not been fully studied within China seas. Anintegrated study of taxonomy within the whole China seas is in urgent need.Specimens examined in the present work are deposited in the Marine BiologicalMuseum, the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Qingdao (MBMCAS). The materialswere collected from the China seas ranging from the Bohai Sea, to the South ChinaSea, mainly by the National Comprehensive Oceanographic Survey (1958–1960), theinvestigation of estuaries of the Three Gorges Project (1985–1986), the CAS XishaIslands Marine Biological Investigation (1957–1980), the CAS Nansha IslandsInvestigation (1985,1987–2000) and other surveys along China coast in recent years.Based on traditional morphological taxonomic methods, a total of56speciesbelonging to4subfamilies and27genera are arranged and classified systematically,including4new species,32new recorded species,4new combinations and11newrecorded genera from China. For each subfamily, genus and species involved, identification key, morphological description and figures are presented, the habitatsand geographic distribution are listed, and the differences with related species andpresent taxonomic problems are remarked. The similar and confused species arecompared and clarified in present study. Some mistakes or misidentifications inprevious taxonomic research are also corrected and revised. This study gives a comprehensive understanding of the faunal composition ofPyramidellidae from the China seas in the first time. It enriches the Chinese marinebiodiversity, and provides basic data for subsequent research of biology, ecology andphylogeny. All the species reseached in this study are listed as follows ("" for new recored species from China seas,"" for new species):Pyramidellidae Gray,1840Pyramidellinae Gray,1853Milda Dall&Bartsch,19041.
