Industrial agglomeration has become a worldwide economic phenomenon.Researching industrial agglomeration theory of Chinese manufacturing can not onlycomplement existing theoretical system, but also provide strong theoretical basis forcoordinating regional economic development, with theoretical and practical significance. Inthe framework of new economic geography, using three methods of standardized analysiscombined with empirical analysis, Longitudinal study combined with horizontalcomparison, static analysis combined with dynamic analysis, empirical study is carried onfrom three aspects, including relationship between market integration and industrialagglomeration, affecting factors of industrial agglomeration, dynamic process ofagglomeration and dispersion.Using1980-2011annual time series data, two indicators of specialization andgeographic concentration respectively, we have studied long-term trend of Chineseindustrial agglomeration and compared the level of Chinese regional specialization withthat of USA and EU. It is the first time that the long-term trend of Chinese industrialagglomeration has been studied from three point of views, including regional specialization, regional geographic concentration and geographic concentration of different types ofindustries. We presented new evidence to support new economic geography theory. We have extended the research from both industry and regional on affecting factors ofindustrial agglomeration. Using regression method and2000-2011panel data of17industries, building two dynamic panel data models, we have studied affecting factors ofindustrial agglomeration based on industry. It is the first time that nine regressionestimation method have be applied to dynamic panel data regression model. Using1980-2011annual time series data, we have quantitative researched the relationshipbetween regional traffic density and regional absolute geographic concentration indexthrough the curve estimation method for the first time and presented new evidence ofaffecting industrial agglomeration for transportation costs. For the first time decoupling theory is applied to the research of dynamic process of agglomeration and dispersion. We have constructed the index of industrial dynamicdecoupling based on elastic analysis, proposed criteria of decoupling state, quantitativepresented the dynamic process of agglomeration and dispersion. We proposed three management inspiration: First, it is objective trends for unbalancedregional economic development, government shouldn’t take balanced regional developmentas policy goal. Second, industry migration between regions, especially the migration oflabor-intensive industries, is an effective measure for carrying out industrial restructuringand reducing regional disparities. Third, promoting the integration of domestic market andimproving backward areas’s internal infrastructure are powerful tools to promote regionalindustrial migration.
