Research On The Financial Support To The Economic Development In Central Plains Economic Region

Study on the relation between regional economic development and financial support is not only a practical issue concerning the implementation of national regional balanced development strategy but also a bran-new major theoretical issue. Since1978, Central Plains Economic Region (CPER) centering on Henan Province has grown in a great-leap-forward way and achieved remarkable economic results. However, financial operation tended to weaken because of insufficient financial support therein, as restricted the continuous development of CPER to some extent and became a key problem hampering the rise of the Central Plains and the revival of Henan Province. Meanwhile, the findings of many researchers proved that financial development can promote economic growth, as also advanced a novel proposition for domestic academic circle, i.e. how to establish a set of theoretical system on financial support and suiting Chinese regional economic development. In recent years, financial development theory has been applied to revealing the drive of regional economic growth, but no systematic analysis models have been formed yet. Based on existing related domestic and foreign findings, the paper will make an overall and systematic study of the financial support during the economic development of CPER, further, profoundly reveal the general law of support of finance for regional economic development and promote the enrichment and development of regional finance and regional economic development theory by beneficial exploration in order to enrich and develop the regional economic development theory and financial deepening theory, and make the beneficial exploration in the field of financial practice.The paper discusses the influence of financial support on the economic development of CPER from the logic start point that financial development promotes economic development and by modern financial theory and economic growth theory, analyzes the action of financial support on regional economic growth, improvement of innovation ability and transformation of development mode and sets up the logic framework of financial support for CPER through literature review, comparison of existing studies on financial support and regional economic growth and reference to modes and experiences of developed countries in financial support during economic development; analyzes the way of influence of financial support on the economic development of CPER and relevant effect by empirical study, extends the perspective of study on support of finance for regional economic development, and studies the influence of financial support on industrial association, improvement of regional innovation ability, coordinated development of industrialization, urbanization and agricultural modernization as well as transformation of economic development mode and its significance for the economic development of CPER; seeks drive for regional economic growth in view of financial development theory, and makes policy suggestions on support of finance for the economic development of CPER in combination with the challenge brought by global allocation of financial resources under open conditions to regional economic development.This dissertation consists of eight chapters.The first chapter mainly describes the paper’s background of study as well as theoretical and practical significance according to the actuality of finical support for CPER, and then defines the concepts involved in this study, determines basic object of study and research methods, summarizes relevant thought of study and structural framework, outlines the contents of the paper and highlights main innovative points of the paper.The second chapter assembles domestic and foreign literatures on financial support and economic development, reviews and evaluates the current status of related studies in view of regional finance and financial support, combs the current status of domestic and foreign studies on financial support for regional economic development, finds out the deficiency of existing findings and determines the cut-in point of this study.The third chapter sorts out the latest findings of related theoretical researches, and combs the development venation of financial development theory and theories on financial support and economic growth, financial support and improvement of regional innovation ability, financial support and transformation of development mode and others, further, seeks a theoretical analysis framework pertinent to support of finance for the economic development of CPER and provides theoretical basis for this study.The forth chapter studies international experience of financial support in regional economic development. This chapter analyzes the financial mode and countermeasures during regional economic development in combination with the practices of support of finance for economic development in developed countries and newly industrialized countries, and provides reference for this study.The fifth chapter mainly examines present situations and problems of financial development in CPEZ.lt makes an overall analysis of the financial development conditions of CPER, measures the degree of financial development by related measuring indexes, and further analyzes the main problems of financial development of CPER thereupon to support this study in subsequent chapters.The sixth chapter mainly empirical study of the financial support.The chapter validates the analysis framework advanced in the paper, and reveals the result of financial support for economic development of CPER in respect of financial development and industrial association, financial development and regional economic growth, financial development and improvement of technological capability.The seventh chapter states the overall thought of enhancing financial support for CPER, and advances that financial service capability can be improved by means of optimizing financial ecology, setting up regional financial center, promoting financial innovation and others according to the regional economic characteristics of CPER.The eighth chapter consists of conclusions and suggestions. The chapter draws the main conclusion of study, analyzes the limitation and deficiency of study according to the work in the paper, and points out the direction of improvement and deepening of future studies.
