The laser gyroscope with total reflection prisms is a new inertial sensitive instrument. The article is intended for a type of prisms laser gyroscope, the operating characteristics and stabilized servo is analyzed thoroughly by Lamb’s semiclassical theory, the key and assembly technologies are designed innovative. The operating principle and design technique is mastered comprehensive. This work has laid a foundation for designing the laser gyroscopes with new structure, new type and new work scheme. Further, the special operative mode which is double longitudinal modes locking oscillating has been found by experiment. On this basis, a new type of laser with double longitudinal modes frequency stabilization is investigated theoretically and experimentally, and the result is quite satisfactory. Finally, the new scheme prisms laser, applied as the core unit, we developed a high precision prisms laser gyroscope without any biasing technique and self-biasing. This paper includes the following research works:1. Research on the operating principle and characteristics of the prisms laser gyroscope, the affect of the ambient temperature fluctuation on the stability of optical path is analyzed by ABCD matrix.2. Analyzed thoroughly on the gyroscope’s frequency stabilization servo system, the physical and mathematical models of stabilized servo process are established. The process of the heat transferring in capillary resonator is analyzed by using finite element method, and the best frequency stabilization servo parameters are obtained. Finally, experimental results show that the theoretical analysis is valid.3. Research on the characteristics and restriction technology of transverse model in prisms laser gyroscope. Specifically discussed the structure of new type combining prism. A new scheme that the diaphragms and combining prism must be assembled under frequency state has been presented. A technical gimmickery has been developed, which uses the reflected light from Brewster angle as the signal source for frequency stabilization, and the way that the frequency is stabilized by direct current signal of light without mechanical dither has been achieved. As the results to use the technical gimmickery, the one-time acceptance rate of gyroscope assemble can be increased from 40% to more than 75%.4. Based on the birefringence theory, the effect of stress on the gyroscope’s steadyoperation is analyzed. A new technology by testing the reflected light elliptic polarization state and interference speckle for prism stress detection is presented. So in actual production, the resolving power for stress detection has been raised greatly by this technology.5. A new type of double-longitudinal modes operation, self-biasing laser gyroscope with prisms has been studied. And the gyroscope operating principle and characteristics are discussed by Lamb’s theory. For the phenomenon found in experiments shows that the laser gyroscope’s lock-zone is unstable, under single longitudinal operating state, the effect of selection various function forms of the parameter represented backscattering on the calculated results of gyroscope’s locking threshold. A new technical scheme about frequency stabilization under the double-longitudinal modes operating state has been proposed, and realizes the frequency stability achieve 10-10. On this basis, the prototype of double-longitudinal modes operation, self-biasing laser gyroscope with prisms has been established, this work confirms the self-biasing theoretical analysis. The test accuracy of the prototype is better than 0.003o/h at room temperature..
