A Study On Context Construction In The Language Of Exhibitions

As a communication intermediary, the language of exhibitions allows the people within museum people and audience to interact with all the objects. It includes strategies and audience research. The language of exhibitions emphasizes the relationship with context and knowledge, with the result of reproducing on exhibits. The language of exhibitions transmits messages by five elements on the sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. The key point of accomplishing transmission is composition which is the way of constructing an effective and accurate context. The power and discourse of exhibitions also motivate the possibility of constructing the mechanism of discourse itself. That means to accomplish the construction of the language of exhibitions, museum people should research and considerate kinds of strategies and ways to figure out the influence of displaying to audience. The constructing of context may be promoted or ruled by audiences which are variables of exhibitions through their demands and interests. It may also be affected by reflection of social rules and psychology, even the cultural implications in a particular regional range.This dissertation tried to divide the language of exhibitions as a three progressive levels as form, statement and implication by the definitions of language and speech. It also pointed out the structure of the language of exhibitions through the discussion of the basic five sensual elements’classification and composition. The great bronze age of China:an exhibition from the People’s Republic of China that was focused on in this dissertation was hold in USA in 1980. It would be evaluated on the power and discourse, the psychology of audience and museum costs of this exhibition by the way of cultural analysis. This dissertation also tried to specify the pattern and rules of constructing context in the language of exhibitions to study on the possibility of transplant a successful case.
