Globalization is one of the important variables to influence nation-state identity, it has penetrated widely into every corner of people’s daily life. Globalization is an important force to reconstruct the world economy, politics and culture,further accelerating the process of globalization has a strong impact on the traditional state sovereignty, the importance of national identity issues highlight increasingly.National identity is one of the hot topics that people concern in the present world. National identity that is a part of the national core values profoundly affects the fundamental interests of the country. Therefore, national identity’s construction is one of the important and urgent task under the background of globalization.American scholar James W Kerry proposed a ritual view of communication mode which relates with the concepts of sharing, participation, joint, exchanges, emphasizing the important roles of communication in the characterization of the common faith and social common belief.The paper studys the ways of TV ritual communication constructing national identity in the light of James· W· Kerry the ritual view of communication mode.TV ritual communication is advantageous to realize the national identity,it can integrate all individuals into the society, realizing the participation and sharing, maintaining and strengthening the existing social order. Research on TV ritual communication and national identity contains social and cultural anthropology journalism and communication, political science and other subjects. The study object has determined this paper which is an interdisciplinary research. Multi-disciplinary theory research has a distinct interdisciplinary character of national identity.This thesis is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction which put forward the main problems to be solved in this dissertation, analyses the existing research results of this area, finds the logical starting point for research, summarizes the significance of thesis research, introduces the research path at the end of dissertation.The second part studies the"national identity crisis under the background of globalization".It discusses the concept and significance of national identity, analyses the causes of producing, manifestations, essence of the crisis of national identity and path solving the crisis of national identity based on the analysis of relationship between national identity and national identity, cultural identity under the background of globalization.The third part studies"tv ritual communication concept, classification and function". Firstly,the paper defines the concept of Tv ritual communication based on analyzing the concept of ritual communication and the practice of tv communication, and then classifies the TV ritual communication,in the final analyses the TV ritual communication function.The fourth part studies"Discourse construction and legal construction:the political dimension of tv ritual communication constructing national identity". It studies tv ritual communication constructing national identity from the political dimension of the "discourse" and the "legitimacy".It mainly analyses two ways of tv ritual communication constructing national identity in micro level around the terminology of "national narrative discourse","national legitimacy", two ways of TV ritual communication constructing national identity are discourse construction and legality construction.The fifth part studies"Memory construction and symbol construction:history and culture dimensions of tv ritual communication constructing national identity".
