Research On Xu Baoshan

Xu baoshan was born in1860s, Under this turbulent backdrop, he lived as the underlying people’s lives. In his adolescence, he was very strong,he had dropped out of school,and removed from the socity. First, he privated Salt trafficking and followed the salt smuggler Sun-Seven in Yangzhou,he joined the QingGuang. Later, he lived on this own.He became the famous salt smuggler in Lianghuai. Xu Baoshan backed by armed trafficking Private Salt,owned high profits,his forces developed rapidly. He set up "Spring Baoshan Church", he was the first person to promote the Green Gang, the confluence of the Red Gang, When the rised of the Boxer Rebellion in the north of China, Xu Baoshan engaged in gang activity and banditry, This made the Southeast leaders rather fear.Two-River Governor-General Liukunyi pacified Xu Baoshan. After pacified, he tried his best to help the Qing authorities to control local security. He became the tool of Qing government,repression secret societies, maintaining social order.He was a bandit soon changed his character into an official, Within his sphere of influence, In Lianghuai area,there had been many bandits ever,then became very stable. In the eve of the Revolution of 1911, Two-River Governor-General Zhang Renjun in order to prevent revolution, gave him a promotion,but under the influence of the revolutionaries, he participated in the revolution. He promoted the Jiangsu revolution, made a significant contribution, he became the new leader of Yangzhou,he was the commander of the Second Army Expedition.In the Early Republic of China,he hired himself to Yuanshikai, abandoned from the revolution. Finally, he was assassinated by the revolutionaries.This dissertation is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is on "Xubaoshan’s early career phase".This is the gestation period of his career, first described the historical background of his birth,his hometown,etc.And analys his early life in the socity,showes his growing environment that is a blend of old and new.The second chapter is on"Xu Baoshan’social activities before the Revolution of 1911 ".which is the period he met political arena. Xu Baoshan had ever been a homeless statu, in order to escaped the Qing court’s arrest, he staied in Yangzhou, joined the Green Gang, started to traffic salt. He set up the "Spring Baoshan Church",He became the leader of the secret socity and the bandits. When the rised of the Boxer Rebellion in the north of China, Xu Baoshan engaged in gang activity and banditry, This made the Southeast leaders rather fear.Two-River Governor-General Liukunyi pacified Xu Baoshan.
