The relationship between occlusion and CMD remains to be recognized even today. This study was divided into three parts. In part I, the correlation of occlusion with craniomandibular function was studied on 200 randomly selected students and 144 CMD patients. The results showed: 1. The incidence of CMD patients with disorderd occlusion was very high(90%). It included: 1). The elongated third molar caused by no opposing tooth; 2). cross-bite third molar; 3).The other cross-bite molars; 4).The inclined adjacent tooth and the elongated opposing tooth resulted from long term lack of teeth. 2. Compared with the student group the rate of condyle posterior displacement in patient group increased significantly. 3.MKG showed no significant difference amonge the groups of normal function and abnormal function students and CMD patients in the movement from postural position(PP) to ICP. 4.For normal students the displacement of ICP was coincided with the maximum temporali activity.
