The Clinical Research Of The Square Face Contouring

Objective: To explore the Diagnosis, Etiology and Treatment of the Square Face.Methods: 1. By analysing the facial morphology of the 41 patients with Square Face, measuring and calculating the Jaw Angle , Morphological Facial Index (the ratio of the Facial Length to the Facial Breadth), FB/IB(the ratio of the Facial Breadth to the Intergonial Breadth), we wanted to set up a general diagnosis standard for the Square Face. 2. Total 44 patients with the Square Face took the Head MRI, cephalometric, panoramic, profile, and anterior-posterior mandibular radiographs. Then the head length (HL), head breadth (HB), facial length (FL), facial breadth (FB), intergonial breadth (IB), corpus length (CL), mandibular angle length (MAL), and jaw angle (JA) were measured; the masseter muscle volume, facial index (FI), and cephalic index (CI) were calculated. The SPSS 11.5 software was used to analyse the relationship between the facial morphological parameters and the masseter muscle volume, to explore the relationship between the masseter hypertrophy and the Square Face. 3. In order to know if the masseter muscle would atrophy and what was the degree after the mandibular angle osteotomy, we compared the changes of the masseter muscle before and after the operation with MRI and Ultrasonography examination. 4.
