Bazhen decoction, composed of roots of Angelica sinensis Diels, roots of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort, roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall, roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch, roots of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch, roots of Panax ginseng C. A. Mey, roots of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz, Poria cocos Wolf, and a classic prescription for qi and blood nourishing, comes from ((Zheng Ti Lei Yao)) . Practical research shows that Bazhen decotion can not only cure leukopenia but also improve severe marrow depression. Anyhow, by far there is no mechanism research report on bone marrow depression on the level of cell and molecule. To make further research on the functional mechanism of blood making and control of Bazhen decotion, and to provide modern scientific experimental basis for the scientific comprehension of qi and blood theory in Chinese traditional medicine, this experiment aims at observing the influence of Bazhen decotion on the blood making capacity of normal mice and anemia mice by depressing the normal blood making function through injecting cyclophosphamide so as to make anemia model, and make research on the effect of Bazhen decotion on the blood making function of mice from the level of gestalt, cell and molecul.1. Make research on the accommodating function on periphery hemogram normal and anemia mice. The experiment shows that Bazhen decotion can effectively averse decrease of leukocyte in periphery blood resulted from cytoxan yet have no obvious effect on normal mice.2. Make research on the accommodating function on marrow cell propagation of anemia mice. The experiment discovers that on the forth day after injecting cytoxan the mice' s propagating ability of marrow cell has decreased by 60.2% compared with the normal mice, while theability of the mice which are applied to Bazhen decotion only decreased by 41. 7%. Afterwards the propagating ability of the former mice gradually recover but still obviously lower than those applied with Bazhen decotion.3. Make research on the effect of Bazhen decotion on the forming of mice spleen nod by counting the spleen nods. The experiment shows that the spleen nods formed on the mice applied with the decotion are obviously higher than the mice without the decotion. This demonstrates that the decotion can promote the forming of blood making stem cells.4. Make research on the effect of the Bazhen decotion on the CFU-FM nod number of anemia mice and normal mice. The experiment demonstrates that the decoction can obviously promote the CFU-GM propagation ability of both anemia and normal mice (P<0.01), which indicates that the decoction can effectively promote the propagation and differentiation of blood making cells.5. Make research on the effect on the proliferation of bone marrow cells of anemia and normal mice by the spleen cell conditioned medium (SCM), lung conditioned medium (LCM), abdominal cavity macrophage conditioned medium (PM φ CM) and muscle conditioned medium (SMCM) produced with Bazhen decoction through in vivo induction. The experiment discovers that the SCM produced with Bazhen decotion through in vivo induction has obvious promotion on the marrow karyote propagation of the mice. Compared with the model mice, the propagating function of the decoction of the dilution rates of 1:4, 1:8, 1:32 bear apparent difference (p<0. 05); the LCM produced with the decoction has apparent promotion on the proliferation of bone marrow cells of the mice while the function of the decoction at the rates of 1:8 and 1:32 are greatly different, having improved at 23% and 31.33%; the PMφCM produced with the decoction has obvious promotion on the proliferation of boen marrow cells of the mice at every dilution rates, and at the mean time the cell propagationfunction increases as the dilution rate increases; the SMCM produced with the decoction has obvious promotion on the proliferation of bone marrow cells of the mice at the rates of 1:4, 1:8 and 1:32.6.
