ObjectiveProbe into the relationship of the body symptoms of patients with alopecia and the diagnosis axis type of alopecia of traditional Chinese medicine.MethodsThis study starts from the survey of body symptoms of patients with alopecia, instructed by the modern epidemiological method of research and based on the diagnosis axis of alopecia of traditional Chinese medicine, also using the statistics method of social science, descriptive statistics and factor analysis. Having surveyed and collected the body symptom's information of318 patients with alopecia in Taipei,Changsha,Beijing,Guangzhou and Fuzhou and having analyzed the relationship of alopecia and the standard criteria of traditional Chinese medical diagnosis, also point out the phenomenon of paradox and confusion in the using of traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia.Results1. As the results presented, the related coefficient of hair index and traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia is from 0.683 to 0.998; the related coefficient of derma index and traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia is from 0.510 to 0.983; the related coefficient of symptom index and traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia is from 0.567 to 0.978; the tongue and pulse index are basically related to the traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia.2. To combine this results and the traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia, we can discriminate the diagnosis type into 5 types; the diagnosis types of alopecia are: ①the weakness of Yin in liver and kidney combined the dry blood type; ② the moist with heat combined the dermal hematoma likely type; ③ the dermal hematoma likely type; ④ the weakness in both Qi and blood combined the dermal hematoma likely type;⑤ the uncategorized type.3. As the statistics differentiated, ① the diagnosis types of alopecia are theweakness of Yin in liver and kidney combined the dry blood type, 38 patients (11.9%), ② the moist with heat combined the dermal hematoma likely type, 22 patients (6.9%), ③ the dermal hematoma likely type, 51 patients (16%), ④ the weakness in both Qi and blood combined the dermal hematoma likely type, 149 patients (46.9%), ⑤ the uncategorized type, 58 patients (18.2%).ConclusionThere is a significantly relationship between the symptoms of alopecia and the traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia. Also the standard criteria of the traditional Chinese medical clinical diagnosis of alopecia still need to be reformed.
