Clinical And Experimental Research On Toufengning Capsule In Treating Head Wind Disease Due To Pathogenic Wind Blocking The Venations

It is well known that the prolonged headache is called Head Wind. Headache is a name of a disease, originally from plain questions: on normal people's physiology, also called Head Pain, including pain in the whole head, or in the anterior, posterior, top and lateral part. Head Wind is also a name of a disease, originally from general treatise on etiology and symptomsology. TOUFENGN1NG capsule is one of the experienced recipes of professor Duan-fuj in, from modified CHUANXIONG MIXTURE, with the functions of expelling pathogenic wind, activating blood circulation and relieving pain, with a good curative effect on headache due to pathogenic wind blocking the venations.Clinical researches were carried out for 14 days on 60 migraine patients, with CHUANXIONG MIXTURE given to the control group. Clinical results indicated that 25 cases were cured, 21 cases were obviously effective, 10 cases were effective and 4 cases were not effective. The total effective rate of the treating group was 93.3%, the obviously effective rate of the treating group was 76.7%, about 6.5% and 20% higher than those of the control group respectively. The clinical observations also showed that the main symptoms, such as the frequency, degree and duration time of the pain, have been improved, the abnormal changes of indexes such as blood rheology and Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonic examination, have been greatly rectified.Animal experiments were carried out by hot plate test, torsion body test, electricity stimulation test and spontaneity activity test onmice to observe the analgesic and calming effects of TOUFENGNING capsule in different doses. CHUANXIONG MIXTURE was applied to the control groups under the same conditions. Results suggested that TOUFENGNING capsule has much better analgesic and calming effects than CHUANXIONG MIXTURE, with an obvious dose-effect relationship. Further animal experiments were done to observe the analgesic mechanisms. The results proved that TOUFENGNI7NG capsule could lengthen the coagulation and bleeding time of mice, lower the mice mortality rate induced by ADP, inhibit experimental thrombosis and platelet adhesion, improve the tolerance ability of hypoxia and increase the content of 5-HT in the brain tissue, which provide good explanations to its analgesic effect.
